newnbetter's Journal, 31 December 2017

Yesterday was a good day. No hunger all day. I did some shopping too 😊. Then I went to dinner with my friend. We went to Golden Corral. They just opened here. Surprisingly it was good. I had steak broccoli a salad and then some pulled pork with no sauce. The steak tasted as if it might have had a very light brush of teriyaki or something. Very subtle but I tasted something. So all was good until my friend went for dessert. I caved. 3 strawberries and a tiny piece of sugar free cake later we left the restaurant. I feel so guilty. I might have been better getting the chocolate on the strawberries than having the cake. Not sure. But I assume my official weight tomorrow will not be as good as I had hoped. Oh well. I’m human. A very flawed one.

I wouldn't feel guilty about 3 strawberries and a TINY piece of sugar free cake! I've lost weight having sugar free angel food cake and strawberries. Are you doing low carb? That would explain the guilt. If there is a weight gain it won't be much and probably come off the next day. That's what happened to me at Thanksgiving when I ate tiny portions of most items and had a small piece of apple pie. I showed a gain, but by Saturday it was gone.

I’m on keto. So yes low carb. The strawberries were not bad. They were a good choice. But the cake was something I should have passed by. But under the circumstances I did ok. I just don’t understand why I ate it. So I feel guilty for letting myself down. Oh well. Today is a new day and half over with. I just are my meal for the day and will be able to have a cream cheese dessert tonight if I need it. All is well. Tomorrow is a big day. I plan to weigh, measure and take pictures. I dread it but am also excited to see if I am able to really make changes.

I plan on weighing and measuring tomorrow as well. I haven't measured at all, didn't really want to know. Just knowing what sizes I had to buy was enough. I'm considering 2018 my starting point and I'll measure the first of each month. I was going to reset my weight and goal on the first but want to wait until I see a green line!

For me the sizes thing is one of the hardest ideas to get through my head. I always had the belief that if I wore a size 8 I would be perfect. But now I find that I can wear a size 8 even though I weigh almost 200 pounds. The thing with clothes and sizes is now they have stupid spandex in everything. I do not have a butt and have always had nice legs. My weight is in my large chest and in my tummy and arms. So I have had to give up the size goal. Now I am in search of a new one.

I've always carried my weight in my hips and thighs. When I wore size 8 pants I was wearing size 4 blouses. After I retired I started gaining it everywhere and was surprised when I'd buy tops that I couldn't wear because my arms had gotten so fat. I started this current journey wearing very tight size 18W jeans. Decided to lose weight rather than buying a larger size. I was surprised at how long it took to get to be able to wear regular size 18. Right now the 18's are getting loose and I can fit into some of my size 16 jeans. I have jeans all the way down to size 6. Once I can fit comfortable in size 14 I'll get even more motivated.

It is certainly motivating to get into smaller clothes. I have a pair of size 8s that are very baggy and a pair of 6s that fit well. But also have 10s that are too tight. Yesterday I tried on jeans and a pair of 8s were tight but ok but the 6s were a joke. With waists going higher my jeans size is going to be a problem
