Newmandy19's Journal, 17 March 2010

So my husband wakes me up this morning before he leaves for work with bad news. His step grandma has passed away, we were expecting this to happen but just wasnt sure when. So here comes the tough choice. His mom and stepdad are renting a suv and we are driving down to the funeral close to amarillo. We are going to be splitting up the drive into 2 days. So the bad part is no cooked meals looks like we will be eating out the whole time. So I am preparing myself to make healthy choices at every place. Grilled not fried. Water which is all I have been drinking anyway. Salad not fries, Subway if I have the choice. Hmm anyone else have any advice on what I should stay away from. Thanks ahead of time!! I really dont want to blow what I have worked so hard on, but I also dont want to complain at where we are eating because its not about me. So I guess my goal is just at each place to keep healthy in my head!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. May God bring you all comfort in this time. Be careful with salads ~ they can often be more hazardous than eating fries! Just order a house salad, and if you need dressing keep it on the side and just dip your salad into the dressing. You'll use less dressing that way! ;) You can still eat healthy on the road ~ good luck to you!

sorry for the loss. I eat out most of the time and just stay away from what you mentioned. All the fried stuff, no soda. Water is great and mostly all places have good salads that are better alternatives to the high calorie items. You have the right mentally just make sure you follow it but if you do fall victim to the other "bad" food make sure you lower the portion. It won't hurt you in the long run.
