icing's Journal, 15 March 2010

I've finally decided to stop the starving diet just hasn't been working. For breakfast, I would have 2 mugs of coffee and a bottle of instant breakfast. I would skip lunch, and then I'd eat dinner. Regardless of skipping lunch, my weight has steadily increased and increased. So, I joined the 3 meals and 2 snacks challenge. I purchased some 100 calorie snack packs, crackers, and Fiber One bars to keep in my desk at work, and I also purchased food to eat for lunch. I'm just going to have to take the time, stand up, and get away from my desk for a half an hour and eat. No wonder I'm always exhausted by the end of the day. My body doesn't have any calories left to draw energy. I think the only thing keeping my body going was caffeine.

ahhh.... Yes you are onto something. You do realize that if you don't consume enough calories in a day your metabolism will shut-down and you will gain weight (because your body stores the fat thinking you are starving). Most health nutritionist will tell you a min of 1200 calories a day are required to keep your metabolism at a healthy level! So eat some more... :-)

Those snacks are great sometimes, but don't forget about fruits and veggies and protein. Those snacks fill you for a short time and contain a lot of sodium. Protein will keep you fuller longer and so will high fiber foods. Get a cooler and pack it with foods you can eat and grab (veggies and hummus, fruit and yogurt, string cheese, etc.) The protein willl also rev your metabolism. Good luck!
