Sigh...seem to be waffling back and forth around the same weight. I know it's probably just water retention and that fluctuations are normal, but it's still depressing to be working this hard and not seeing the results.

I've also read/heard that since muscle weighs more than fat, it's normal to actually gain weight initially after starting to work out. But still...

When people say "muscles weighs more than fat" they actually mean that muscle is more dense than fat and takes up less volume ( a pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle (but the volume for each would be vastly different). The initial weight you see from working out is water retention in your muscles (they get little tears and water replaces the tears to help them heal). It can show up on the scale as no loss, small loss or even a temporary gain. If you are doing every right, it will eventually show on the scale or in inches/fat loss. You also don't have much to lose, so you may have to work harder to get it off. Keep going and good luck!
