NTech's Journal, 25 September 2017

Had my husband hide the scale until Wednesday. Was originally weighing myself several times a day because I wanted to get official weight documentation from the doctor as soon as I could, but I’m not maintaining that 187 well enough and I was starting to obsess about it. So I’ll weigh myself on Wednesday and not look at the scale again until next Wednesday. I just need to chill out with it all. Still going to get my steps in and eat healthy, but those numbers on the scale we driving me insane.

LOL! Your husband has your best interests at heart I think! I was weighing myself once a week, but lately it's been once a day, and I commented the other day that if I weigh myself before are after this or that, or at this time or that, there is much more variation than I anticipated. So now I'm thinking, whatever it says, I should think "plus or minus a couple of pounds". You have done great with a steady downward trend.

NTech-I don't know if you might find this helpful. But, I use a "range" for weight maintenance to accommodate for normal fluctuations. Actually, most hard core maintainers do like Heather Robertson and even Bright lines eating guru, Susan Pierce. A weight maintenance range can run from 3-10 lbs. My body chose mine at a 3 lb range. So on any given day, I run between 186-189. If I go above 191, I know to start cutting cals or increasing exercises, but frankly I haven't had to do either.

I've been doing the same thing. My husband keeps telling me it's not the number on the scale, it's how you feel. For me I just want that number to go down. It feels good when it does. I just want to jump for joy. hahahahaha

I weigh myself a few times a day and write them down. (There's a digital scale right outside my door in this facility, it's hard to avoid :) Most people shake their heads, but I'm consistently losing weight and retaining muscle. If good news I cut myself a bit of slack, if bad I try harder. It took a while of tracking EVERY calorie on FS, but the huge swings (my weight can vary several lbs day to day and a few lbs in the space of a single day) are frustrating, but don't bother me that much any more--because I know the calories are just not there to gain weight that is going to "stick". It does help, however, after keeping track of all the details to step back and look at the big picture. The graph tells the real story. You have a really nice, even downward slope on the graph of your weight loss--so you have to be working hard and doing the right things!
