Don't mean to complain, but I went from 228 pounds to 190 pounds (lost a total of 38 pounds) and yet I STILL feel insecure about my stomach. Does anyone else feel this way about themselves, like losing a decent amount of weight but still feeling down about your body? I'm hoping by atleast the next 10 or 20 pounds I lose that my stomach will look a little better...

I have always had a flabby stomach no matter how much I lose/work out. It is frustrating, but you are still improving your health by losing that much weight. I think 38 pounds is a huge accomplishment -congrats!

38 lbs is amazing!! I think we can be our own worst critic when it comes to stuff like that....I am exactly the same way. Its never enough, a little too flabby, stretch marks, etc....but like Pollyqc said you are doing something good for your health. So bask in that for a while, and good luck to you!

Yes I agree. 38 pounds is terrific. Try not to focus on your body so much. I bet other people can notice your weight loss. keep your eyes on your goal. And tell yourself you are beautiful just the way you are. Congratulations on your achievement so far!

Yeah, same. I'm trying again tis summer, even though last summer I tried losing weight but I only lost like 10 pounds in a month and I looked EXACTLY THE SAME! I got really discouraged, but this time I will not give up! (Even though that's what I always say...)

Yes that my main problem is my stomach if I could cut that down weight would be fine.

Stomach/abdomen area is the last fat to come off unfortunately! That's where most of my excess weight is too!

I been busy making sure I walk and put in a least 5 to 10 thousand steps, but at a plateau I haven't lost a lb, began doing scissor leg kicks, squats help work the lower abdomen . Keep moving what ever you do, congratulations to all for taking step for a healthy lifestyle

no I learned to not stress about and continue working on myself. I would say to myself girl Rome was not build in a day so stop worrying and keep pushing forward. Then I made some sign and decorated it and wrote positive affirmation to myself. Stop worrying you are doing GREAT Allyraw92 YOU are BEAUTIFUL inside and out

This is my first post. A specialist recently told me that the body is built to carry some belly fat as a protection for internal organs (i.e., liver, kidneys, etc.) and that a 'normal' body has some fat on their belly. Apparently our bodies get 'nervous' with a totally flat belly and fights to keep some fat there. The question is how to persuade our bodies that it's OK to lose the *excess* belly fat.

when I talk about my belly I don't like the donut look, of course the belly stores some fat. I just don't need every one else seeing it.

@Nures Care - The 'donut' over your belly is probably excess fat that needs to go away. My previous post contains one explanation for the difficulty losing belly fat. Keep on working on it - you're doing great. Best of luck to you.

If you cut out all sugar for 2 wks. I guarantee you will lose your stomach.I did and couldn't believe the transformation. Good luck.

Even when I was dangerously underweight as a teenager, I had a little stomach pooch and thighs so sexy they couldn't stop touching each other. I also have quite a lot of body hair, which can't be reduced through diet and exercise. Insecurity is a serious issue that everyone faces, regardless of size or physical health. It's important to cultivate a balanced view of yourself. You have positive qualities that have nothing to do with the shape of your body.

Are you doing any toning? (Pilates? Yoga?)

I lost 50 lbs (gained most of it back) and even at my lowest weight, I was never happy with my body. I think that's part of why I gained it back: I kept happiness beyond my reach, and eventually gave up. I kept dismissing my progress, because all I could see was thighs that were still "too fat", and a stomach that was still "too big." Keep striving for health, and don't get too bogged down on negativity.

Try to see yourself over the entire course of your change. Appreciate how far you've come! Bit by bit the body shape changes... and our perspectives of how we look should as well. You are worth more than all the negative body image talking heads combined!
