Welcome Monday!

Hope everyone who is coupled up had a good Valentine's Day, and all the singles went out and had an awesome time celebrating themselves! Before Joe and I started dating, that's what I would do. My singles friends and I would forget about not having boyfriends or husbands and just do things that were fun, like go dancing, or go out for drinks. We focused on US, rather than not being in a couple. I remember those Valentine's Days like they were yesterday.

So this weekend, I wasn't on my best behaivor. But I guess whatever I'm doing is the key to maintenance. Because I've been holding steady, which is some sort of consolation. I've decided that I'm giving up soda as my thing for Lent. I'm also seriously considering fasting one day a week during Lent. I'm in no way overly religious, or really religious at all, but I've always given some up for Lent. I am also quitting smoking. Cold Turkey. I'm psyching myself up for it. Two days. Joe and I quit last march, but this time I have heck of a lot more motivation. I've got to stick with it.

Today I'm really focusing on my eating, and my exercising. I'm doing the Wii Fit tonight, and I'm going to use my hands weights while I'm watching my shows.

I've got to focus on this. I don't want to gain weight like I did last time. I'm down a little bit lower than I was when I quit last year, so this time I have to focus on not eating to fill the smoking gap in my life. Also, since I'll be focusing more on exercise and what I'm eating, it'll hopefully keep my mind off of other things. I'll discuss when I know more, right now I don't want to say much because I don't know what it'll be. I just got some scary news on the health news this weekend. Everything goes back to not having insurance.

Oh well, I'm a fighter, and I'll hopefully get through this unscathed. I know I have more than 5 things to be grateful for, I just can't think of any.

Oh no. I'm sorry about the health news. BUt you sound determined to fight this one through to the end. Best of luck with the smoking. I know my friend found the American Lung Association quit smoking website really helpful. She smoked pretty regularly since she was 13 or 14 but she did it. The website has all kinds of practical advice and info. I totally believe you can do it!

Here is the website. (Take out the spaces or look up Freedom from Smoking.) http://www. ffsonline. org/ I used some of the advice and my husband also used it when he quit. It takes you through a "program." I remember one stat that said that "informed cold turkey" is the most effective method, even more effective than using prescription drugs or nicorette or any other aids.

Good luck on quitting smoking! I know that has got to be so hard, but I believe that you can take the discipline you have developed with eating and channel it into getting rid of another bad habit.

Good luck quitting! I quit for good two years ago after far too many years. I am still thrilled to be a non-smoker! The website Beets suggested is a good one.
