2ManyCurves's Journal, 20 April 2017

I've had some time to reflect. I think I am going to keep the majority of my diet whole-food, plant-based. But, I'm just not good with extremism. I've really been turned off by veganism the last few days. I was disappointed over the lipid panel results. But, I think I'm more dissuaded by the responses I've gotten from vegans in various facebook groups. Veganism isn't about health necessarily. It's more animal activism. While I love animals, I will probably always own a dog, ride horses and shampoo with Pantene or some other cheap-o equivalent. I had a long meditative run this morning before work during which I remembered that I am my best with balance. I've never benefited from an all or nothing approach to life.

Happy to hear you are keeping the majority of your diet whole food, plant based =) I am currently reading "The China Study" and find that helpful as it concentrates on health. I find Dr Greger great to listen to aswell. I have stayed away from vegan forums/facebook groups. Since the start of this year I am fully plant based and added oil free. Yes it seems extreme but I now look at it the other way round. Our modern day diet is the extreme one and coming from such extremity makes it harder to recognise what moderation really is. As far as veganism and extremism I tend to agree with you. I have a dog as a pet, our shampoo probably was tested on animals, and the insulin my son takes certainly was. As its said, Rome wasnt built in a day. Small steps in the right direction. Keeping the majority of your diet whole food, plant based is an awesome step both for you and for the "vegan movement".

Thanks Sammysylvain. I actually prefer eating fruits and vegetables to meat most of the time. I exited the facebook groups yesterday. So many were just so over the top that I felt stressed over something as simple as eating.
