Boy howdy! I went to work out last night, for the first time this week. Am I feeling it today! I was excited to do the workout program that the personal trainer set up for me, however, I really didn't think I'd end up so sore afterwards. lol I suppose a little pain is good.
The first part was 20 minutes on the bike. After 3 minutes...I thought "UGH...I still have 17 minutes to go?!". lol I normally walk on the treadmill when I go to the gym. I had no idea the bike could cause so many aches and pains.
After the bike, I proceeded to the ball to try my hand at balancing with my eyes closed. I'm not exactly sure what it's supposed to do other than to work the muscles so that they can balance your body without your eyes telling your muscles what to do. Her goal is to get my body into shape from the inside out.
The next thing I tried was what's called the "plank". Let me just give out a big ol' LAUGH at this one! I'm sure I looked like a misplaced whale on the floor. It's like a midway pushup that you hold for as long as you can. I think I was able to keep my body in the "plank" position for about 10 seconds the first time. The next 2 times were even shorter as I became a little dizzy and my body was shaking worse than jello. I decided I HATE that exercise! lol After that I was able to finish my workout on some weight machines. Naturally, the weight machines she wanted me to use are down in the "main" workout room...where all the little "hotties" work out. Like I want to work out in front of lil' hotties... pphhhfftt! At least the weight machines are a bit more dignified to use, thank God. Luckily, the first half of my workout I was able to do in the "women's only" workout room. Whoever thought of this room deserves a pay raise. The plank and the balancing ball act are things you just don't want to do out in the middle of public.
By the time I was done with my workout, though, I kept telling myself that if I stick with this trainer...she will definetly WHIP me into shape!
There are those who motivate and there are those that need to be motivated. I'm stuck in between.
I must say, even though I'm incredibly sore this morning, it feels good to know that I'm on my way to a healthier, happier, sexier me! I know that if I do this, I will succeed. It's a much better feeling than the old "oh man, I ate another candy bar. Why did I do that?" guilt trip.
