Holy cow! This morning I weighed in at 139 pounds!! I began this journey a little over a year ago at 205 pounds thinking that I would be lucky if I lost 5 pounds and kept it off, as I had never been able to do in the past. I started exercising after I quit smoking because I actually developed a throat issue due to the cigarettes that wasn't apparent until after I had stopped taking all those chemicals in. The ounces started falling off little by little and staying off so I decided to exercise a little bit. I HATED anything that required physical exertion lol. My husband bought me a gazelle and I began using that along with a smaller portion diet, no specific food restrictions. I found Leslie Sansone's walking videos on my TV and began doing a mile walk with her and then an hour on the gazelle afterwards. Once I saw more weight loss and started to feel more energetic I bought LS's other walking videos that included 3 mile and 4 mile walks, along with higher impact interval workouts. I ate a low fat, low carb (no grains, pasta, rice, or potatoes) diet and gave up sugar. More weight gone. I then walked/HIIT walking 4 miles every day on that diet and 5 months later had lost 60 pounds.
I had major dental work done that put a halt to the workouts and limited my diet to soft foods that were way off my diet lol. I managed to lose a few pounds anyway. Once all pain had eased from that, I began to go to the gym and did treadmill plus light weight training for a few months. During this I maintained at 147-145 while back on my LFLC diet.
Somewhere along the line I decided I wanted to work towards becoming a powerlifter so I switched to a gym that had heavy weight training equipment and started lifting like crazy 3x weekly along with running/walking interval treadmill workouts. I pretty much ate like a bear, huge portions, added sugar back in but still no grains, pasta, rice, potatoes. I held my ground at 145 for a few months building muscle.
My husband and I began on the ketogenic diet Jan 2nd (had done lazy keto since Nov) and I have now broken that plateau I was sitting on for so long.
This way of eating is not just better tasting haha, but it is also proven to help with many health ailments caused by low fat, carb and sugar filled diets. I could not be happier :)
