Got a great bike ride in today, did a 20 mile virtual group ride. Makes the time just fly by! Had a nice rest day yesterday, tried to keep my carbs down but it made me feel like binging towards the end of the day. Need to be careful with that. Didn't help that Friday was an offsite meeting with no options for lunch. It was a burger and fries or nothing. Didn't eat all the fries, but had a cupcake. Didn't go too over my total calories though.

Getting frustrated with the boyfriend. He knows that I'm committed to eating healthier, exercising regularly, and cutting out alcohol, but keeps trying to get me to cheat. Every time we have a meal together he tells me I should be eating more. Mind you, I'm eating around 1700 cal/day, so I'm hardly starving myself. He's frustrated that I won't go out to the bar with him at 9 pm on a weeknight... like dude, that's my bedtime. To get my butt out of bed at 5 I need to be asleep by 9.

I thought he was going to be a help since he wants to get healthier too, but he has horrible "fat logic" and won't listen to my suggestions. By "fat logic", I mean those excuses we use to eat more/exercise less. For example, he claims he needs to eat tons of carbs and pasta on the days before he works out to "carb load". His workouts are like an hour. Like... just no. I tried to tell him that's only appropriate for intense stuff. For example, the last time I "carb loaded" was before a 100 mile bike ride. It's not a weekly thing. He also won't do strength training often because he "doesn't want to become one of those guys that can't cross their arms". As if lifting weights 3x a week will magically turn you into the Rock by accident.

I mean, I don't have all the answers and I'm sure some of what I know in regards to fitness is wrong, but I at least try to learn and grow. I can't stand willful ignorance. Ugh. Sorry for the rant. Just needed to rant somewhere.

People are often not well informed and want to do it their own way, but YOU know what works for you! Continue to do YOUR plan anyway - in spite of his beliefs. You understand calories in and calories out and women's weight loss is very different from men's. I know you already know these things. Never let anyone sabotage you.

I think partners can be the most difficult part of diet temptation and difficulty. I would say, talk to him heart to heart, but ironically, my wife doesn't even know I watch my diet, maybe doesn't even realize I have lost weight, so I shouldn't TALK! LOL I do sympathize your plight. Men tend to be jerky too, especially young men.

Reminds when I was growing up. We were awaken from gunshots. It was our neighbor two doors down shooting her husband with a shotgun twice, accidentally below his waist. He no longer cheated on her. lol He was dead!

You are an expert in your own way. It doesn't sound like he has much of a chance of persuading you to diverge from your path. And he should learn to stop trying.

You're right HCB. I need to just focus on what I need to do, and let him figure out his own way. I just want to smack him though! haha!

Smacking him would burn a few extra calories! Or make him lift weight with you...I am stronger than my husband now! He claims he lives in terror...LOL

It sounds like he doesn't understand your priorities, and is maybe a bit in denial himself. My boyfriend is all talk and no action when it comes to weightloss, and I've found that I just have to focus on myself. I'm sorry your bf isn't being very supportive :(

I didn't know this but I found out something new this weekend. You liver treats alcohol as a toxin. So a serving of alcohol (5 oz wine, 12 oz beer or 1 oz shot) takes an hour for your liver to process. Your liver immediately goes into anti toxin mode thereby putting off it's responsibility to take care of your required glucose and hydration needs. And if you drink a long Island Iced Tea that's 5 hours of anti metabolism mode. That's why you get thirsty and hungry for carbs when you drink. I was very surprised to hear that.
