Interesting to read what I wrote last July. I went back to work after a 6-week summer break and things got worse. I went back, on and off, to my old habit of bingeing after classes were over for the day, though my work isn't. My weight had gone up about 5 lbs. from the lowest I had gotten to in the past two years. Still haven;t become determined to get exercise in. I say I want to but my sleep patterns are so terrible and my work habits so bad that I don't. I'll say I will walk in the evening and then fall asleep in the evening until 10 or 11 p.m.. I don't want to work out then and wake myself up. Oh, the details are too maddening to report. Suffice it to say it doesn't get done consistently. I've been relatively back on track with my eating and see improvement on the weekends, which was where most of the trouble was before I went back to afternoon bingeing. I had decided I would weigh only quarterly but have peeked a few times. I'm down a few pounds, so I'm glad. Still don't know if I will get into my correct BMI range, but I'm feeling more content with eating moderate-to-light meals most of the time. I'm not often dying to eat heavier foods. I went to a street fair last night and had brownies, cookies, and such and felt great about it. I didn't go buy more and eat it all hunched on my couch after I got home, as I used to do. I've got a cold today which I hope will keep me more moderate in my eating. I also had a bright idea that just like it takes about three nights of NOT night- eating for it to feel a little natural, I bet after three weekends straight of sane eating with a few desserts and snacks, that will feel more natural, too. Of course, that requires a lot more hours of possible white-knuckling it than three nights of not bingeing, but the principle is the same. Eat good, delicious meals and keep reminding myself it either hasn't been that long since I ate a good meal or that it won't be long until the next good meal, so I don't need food in between. This seems a perfect way to prepare for Christmas week.
