Sunrise's Journal, 30 November 2011

I’m bored with my diet today. I really don’t have time to cook much so I tend to stick with simple, natural foods that have not been overly processed (oatmeal, fresh salads, raw vegetables, yogurts, fresh fruits, etc.). I’m trying to keep sodium down as well which means little to no condiments, salty seasonings, etc. The result is that my meals are often pretty bland or mediocre-tasting. I need to get more creative if I’m going to stick with this for life! Having said that, I have not been hungry nor have I had many junk food cravings in the past 3 ½ weeks. I am surrounded by junk of all sorts at the office. Someone even brought in a giant homemade chocolate cake (one of my favs!), but I haven’t really even been tempted. For that I am grateful! I am so proud of myself that I’ve been doing this for almost a month. I can’t even count how many times I tried to get back on track and quit within the first 2 days. I feel pretty confident that this time I will not give up. I know there will be hard days, but just having nearly a full month under my belt gives me the determination to stick with it.

G'morning Sunrise x. Olive's would add a salty flavour to salads, etc and at @ 6kcals each they are easy to incorporate. Fresh horseradish root/ginger root would add interest to foods. I get bored with cold food and find hot food more satisfying; so I cook a couple of meals on Sundays (this weekend was cauliflower cheese soup and cottage pie). Actually, I don't know whether I get bored, or that I live in the Highlands and it is now snow season, so desire hot food due to cold weather. Anyhoo, I measure, weigh, portion, place recipe in cookbook here and then freeze. If I am craving a nice, fresh, crisp salad; I can have this with the lasagna I made earlier. I also find this helps with the 'coming up to payday blues'. Your diet is clean and fresh; that's always gotta be a good thing, even if you find it a little boring at times - and you're losing the weight :-) yeehah you.
