monkeygirl's Journal, 02 January 2010

So, December was a wash, but it was nice to eat anything and everything I wanted for a few weeks. I'm reading a new book right now, the Enlightened Diet, that I'm hoping will help with some of my emotional eating and obsessive dieting problems. It's well researched anyway, and I enjoy that. I'm also looking forward to getting back into more healthy eating habits again. While it was emotionally satisfying to indulge myself for a few weeks, I don't feel as good physically as I did two months ago, so that's my incentive right now.

I am so proud of myself though! First, I made it to a size 4 this last year, something I hadn't thought physically possible. I have NEVER been a size 4. Not since junior high. Second, I stuck with my New Year's resolution last year for the entire year. I really did make physical activity a part of my regular life routine!! Third, this is the first year in almost 10 years that I haven't made it a New Year's resolution to lose weight. Don't get me wrong, I have resolutions about eating healthy & working out, but for the first time in a long time, I don't have a number in my head. Instead, I have patterns and behaviors I want to restablish, and I feel good and confident about my ability to do so.

So, my New Year's resolutions for this year are:

1) Continue to work out 4-5 times / week - work on increasing intensity & duration

2) Limit the number of times eating out to 2x per week

3) Continue to make healthy food choices (limiting to 1200-1500)
