I got question of diet and exercise , I was currently doing pilates , yoga ,strength training classes and tabata classes and water areobics like 5 to 6 days a week 2 to 2.5 hrs a day , for 3 months eating about 2000 calories and stayed current weight , today I had my first private training session he told me to stop it all classes and do 10 min cardio and 1 hr weight training heavy 3 sets 10 to failer , and said I am over training and not eating enough calories is this possible ? . I mean I sweat my butt off doing it all I thought more exercise more weight loss , he said no I am in catotronic wut ever this means my body cant mend and My metabolism is stopped from lack of calories ??? please advise me he said more then 5 hrs a week in gym is enough , I average 15 hrs a week now wont I gain fat??? I dont live active lifestyle other then gym please reply thanx

rabbit, your post sounds like a troll The only people I know that exercise 15 hours a week or more are road bike racers (I guess ballerinas could too). If you are not a troll You could have severe cortisol issues from all of that training especially since you say you joined a group for over 50 year olds.

LOL I am retired and trying to get in shape i am 55 yrs old , but the weight training was extreme cause he did heavy weights and the classes I got used to I love yoga and water classes each class is like 1 hr so you agree its like counter productive even though I felt fine ?

well you threw in "tabata" and if done right that can be very intense, so I imagined everything you were doing was intense.. Stick with your trainer and make sure they know of any injuries you have, I had a trainer make me try stiff legged deadlifts and I told him it was a bad idea, I was laid up for 2 weeks and he was fired. I think you could slip in yoga if you wanted... but give it a try, if you don't like it get a different trainer. best shape I was ever in I exercised maybe 4 hours a week. But different people can take different amounts. in general if you excercise intensely, the workouts can be shorter and less frequent. if it is very gentle..low heart rate..do more.

I understand we do tabata 1 hr 5 min warm up 10 min cooldown 45 min 8 circuits of 8 with 10 sec rest 20 sec work and after 8 exercises 2 min rest but its not crossfit we do pushups burpies modified if u cant jump , run , jumping jacks , dumbell tricep overhead and squat no weight we are not doing like extreme rings like in crossfit but its a workout by last of circuits im on my knees doing pushups lol but i try my best when i started i couldnt do a burpie lol and was winded first run , it is only on saturdays the ymca offers it 1 day a week only , I did go to crossfit 1 time I could not jump 32 inches to box or fold my body on a chin up bar or squat 300 pounds with a fake hip I got limitations so while tabata is very intense its low impack and not crazy like crossfit like andrea ager on u tube maybe pre war lol when I was in 20s I mite do it , I am new to exercise to me I want to convert fat to muscle from surguries a few years ago with out ruining hardware in back or hip i love my classes , but trainer ended them as of today and to be honest this is first day with trainer and my body hurts very bad like first day i was in gym and I was there only 1 hr lol but I dont lift weights till fatiuge , in my classes for strength u got a box with risers and i put on 40 to 60 pounds for reps but reps are in the 30s now he had me tripple weight and 3 set of 10 , he said it wont burn fat but my waiste shrunk 3 inches in 3 mo i just hope his training doesnt increase it back , pilates and yoga is all abs work no fast movements poses and some hard lol but it makes u sweat I will miss them lol

i just read yoga comment I am way flexible now and can do alot but the balancing where you bend forward and leg and arms out with one leg I have to hold wall on one side all group trainers were great with my weak points , but I am a fighter here is one major improvement walking up stairs I used to walk left foot and then right foot to left not like others who can walk up each step with each leg now I can jog up steps , 4 mo ago I could not take harley off foot peg this is 3 yrs after hip now I got leg power I thin from yoqa and pilates and low weight squats hi reps with 80 pounds he had me do a leg press with 45 pound weights 10 reps and kept addding plates and said ok you use 290 pounds every workout until you feel you can do 15 then add another 45 pounder , I dont know 90 days no pain him 1 day pain lol but I am hoping my exercise while exessive toned me I fatique from time not heavy weight I mite be too broken to do the weight gig this is why I asked advise I am scared of being hurt and gaining weight then pain will return you know its a fight for me as during an accident i lost my spine and pitutary gland so my body has no hormones so I cant eat and stay fit like others this trainer claims if I foolw his regime I will have a metabolism like pre accident
