I have the same problem with diet coke it's almost like an addiction that just won't go away, but I have cut back heaps.
But still never give up trying, talk yourself up and you will get there.

Ferretlover, It's not a selfish goal setting your sights on good health. on the contrary, It's selfish to place our bad health on our loved ones. I have witnessed waaaay too often how people would have utter disregard for how they place their family members as their caregivers simply because the passion of food took top-billing in their life. Worse, even when it gets to that point they do nothing to lighten the burden. Therefore I commend you to improve your heatlth's desire. My own reason is responsibility, health, competitiveness and a bit of vanity, but if my wife needs to take care of me later on it won't be for something I could avoid. I pray this is received with nothing but the best intentions, because that is where I'm coming from. God bless you.

Keep at it! I do like soda but I rarely have it. I do drink a ton of water and one of the ways I do that is by keeping a Brita water dispenser in the fridge and I have a 17 oz thermos that I constantly drink from and fill up throughout the day. I don't really have a good substitute for diet coke that'd be able to fight that craving off but maybe having a water bottle near you all day could help.
