Have to be in the game every day to win it! Six months ago I watched a lot of people fall off the wagon over the Christmas holidays, I think some of them never made it back on, and that's a shame. I've seen some struggle to lose in a year what I've lost in any given month, and while I know LCHF/Keto/IF is a vastly superior way of eating, diet can't be blamed in the face of lack of commitment.

So true, Phil! I also believe letting the sugar pushers influence our decision making plays a big part in falling off of the wagon, but you have to let the ones closer to you where you stand. For example, my sister used to be really bad for "one bite/one day won't kill you!" (Uhhhh... yea, it just might! 😂) Now that I've let her know REPEATEDLY how eating "shit" makes me feel, she no longer does it. She is having a bday party for her grandson at my house today (naturally there will be lots of forbidden foods), but she kindly asked me what could I have. She will be leaving me some pulled pork out of the BBQ sauce, and I told her that I would make my own Cole slaw & coconut flour bread. Maybe, I will have a few strawberries to celebrate. ☺

Rationalizations for daily diet transgressions are a way of life for a lot of people, and that's why I don't bother trying to persuade others to follow my path. Diet Do; Ok. Diet Don't; Ok. Diet Maybe; Squish like grape. You and I have both reached a place, have lost what we wanted to lose as it were, that we can have an occasional few strawberries or some other food that was forbidden while we were on our losing quest and be alright, bounce right back to our preferred way of eating with no damage done and continue to chug along in maintenance. People that are just starting out just don't seem to understand, or worse, don't WANT to understand that once you get started that if you "slip up", you may as well have not started, it's a long term commitment from Day One, and anyone not fully committed will not succeed, it's that simple.

Exactly! You have to be seriously keto adapted. I slip up now and then, but bet your ass that it's not because it's someone else's bday. Actually...not even my bday, or just bc it's Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. bc I don't feel compelled to used food as a reward any more. When I "slip up" it's bc I choose to for the most part, with the occasional "shit happens".

Phil, your comment reminded me of Revelation 3:15

YES!!!! Once you escape your own prison in your mind, the possibilities become limitless. Remember, what you think about most becomes your reality :)

Christianity, like all other religions isn't necessarily about the narrative, but the philosophical lessons conveyed by that narrative. I had to look up Revelation 3:15, great passage, like many other in that particular Great Book, and topical, it's unfortunate that people have such a hard time in application of concepts and principles, but we're all human with human failings, diet being a prime example.

I agree 100%, Phil & Sugar! @Lady, you've got me looking it up as well. If you listen God, Budda, the universe (in whatever greater power you believe) will speak to you. "Ye who hath an ear..."

Best way to hear that voice is be still, try to be in nature and eat mostly whole foods. That voice within (could be just a knowingness) will Always steer you in the right direction.

EXACTLY, SUGAR!!!!! When we connect back to nature & the way we were meant to eat/live, and one finds an enitre new life, body, spirit, and mind. Life is beautiful!

Not trying to beat a dead horse, but far too often I have friends and FS buddies who have the best of intentions, great plans and goals and after a brief flurry of activity fail to execute, disappear for months or for ever....why is the big question? It kinda makes me sad as I know they want to make changes for health or other reasons, but.....old habits stay, good - new habits aren't formed....nothing lasting changes. Boy wouldn't it be great if we could figure out that one!!

@STEVEN... because sugar is a drug. It's that simple. It activates the same part of the brain as cocaine does. I honestly feel like weight loss will never be enough of a reason for one to stay committed for a lifetime. It has to run deeper than that. In has to be that one sees how it effects them and/or mentally, and choose which is more important to them.
