Eidetiker's Journal, 09 June 2016

I've read about how once you've gone on a LCHF diet cravings for bad carbs will stop.
It hasn't stopped for me :( I've been thinking about eating ice cream on and off for about a week now.
It doesn't help that my co worker just bought a dozen donuts that's just sitting in the break room. I'm surrounded by carbs!
I need to change the way I'm thinking. I constantly think about what I can have and I need to start looking forward to what I can have.

the cravings do stop BUT the body follows where the mind goes... stop the insanity!

You are doing great. I am not on a specific diet. Calorie counting is what works best for me. I would find it very hard not to have the foods I like . With calorie counting you can still eat healthy and allow for some of those snacks you crave. I have ice cream every night. Eddys slow churned. 1/2 cup only 110 calories.

the carb cravings will go away on lchf, but it takes a little bit of time. make sure you're keeping your fat intake up, drink lots and lots of water. don't tempt yourself with even small amounts of sweets, keep lchf snacks handy. full salt chicken broth or bullion will help if you get headachy. you can do this!!

Thanks for the suggestions :) Cathy, it is impossible for me to just calorie count. I've tried eating at 1300 kcal/day for a month and I was constantly hungry and irritable. Now I'm at 1100 kcal/day and am satisfied and full most of the time.

I've been doing low-carb for a year and have lost over 200lbs, it's not entirely honest to say that the cravings go away. They aren't as intense, but Betsy is right, the body follows where the mind goes, and if you let some carbs sneak back in the cravings come back with a vengeance. It's all force of will, you have to be in the game daily.

Don't worry about counting calories, like Berley1 said up your intake drink a lot of water and I would also say do not try to fast until you are keto adapted. After you become keto adapted then you can count your calories.

Too much protein and/or not enough fat makes me crave. Food intolerances can also cause cravings. Hang in there! You'll figure it out.☺

Give it some more time! And stay away from artificial sweeteners, they'll continue to make you crave :)

A lot of good info here little lady. Im sort of a KETO GURU. My advice? Don't even attempt Fasting until at least three weeks in. You will suffer needlessly. It takes time to Keto adapt. Some people, myself included can take almost a month. It DOES get easier. You CAN NOT CHEAT on Keto. If you cheat even once, its like a Global reset and you have to suffer it all over again. Its not something you can take lightly. Just be patient with your body. It will adapt. And you will lose so much weight so quickly when you do that it may scare you at first. When you have finally adapted, THEN begin a fasting schedule. Try a 16:8 to begin with. It is the easiest to help you adjust. Eventually you can be up with us doing 23:1. Once you Adapt. You stop craving carbs and sugars. Eventually they will repulse you. Yes, smelling sugar will make you sick.

I second everything the other LCHF'ers said! I actually became ultra-sensitive to sweet and salty flavors after about 6 weeks. I look at grains and sugar as poison now, because that's what they are.

Just to clarify, I've been trying to stick to 20g of carbs for over a month now. I still think about sinking my teeth into some ice cream. Some days I'm not that successful, others I am under. It's tough because some days my boyfriend likes to cook for us and I go over my carb count. Despite saying that, he is very supportive and does his best to help me on my diet. He fixed my zucchini noodles for spaghetti and meatballs tonight :). I drink plenty of water, I just don't bother to log it because I measure with my water bottle which is 750 mL. I drink at least 3 water bottles (2,250 mL or 76floz) every day. One thing I do struggle with is upping my fat intake, I'm still not used to eating so much fat, but now that I have a milk frother I'm going to try to do BP drinks in the morning.

Also, thanks for all the support and suggestions! I'm finally off from work and a belly full of food, it definitely helps with taking my mind off donuts and ice cream. I have experienced being off the diet when I was keto adapted. It was not fun. Felt like I had a brick in my stomach when I went over my carbs.

Little lady. Im here to brighten your day. BUTTER and COCONUT OIL. Both 100 calories per Tablespoon. Add one of those items and you will be at your fat levels in no time. I get about 800 calories a day from those two items. The improvement in your memory, and the decrease in your apatite will blow your mind. MORE FAT and you will want less carbs. Try it.
