In the grocery store. It's like an assault on every aisle. I don't usually shop. Temptation at a whole different level.

I go during the week, during the day. Here in the evenings and on weekends they have lots of sampling going on. Hard for me to turn down "just one little bite"!

I'm just amazed at how junky the food-like substances are and at how they are packaged and promoted to appeal to you. They really want to convince you that if you eat their product you are going to feel certain ways: happy, energetic, calm, virtuous, pampered, indulged, rewarded.... If you must expose yourself to these temptations it can be amusing to decode what they are REALLY trying to sell you.

I find myself looking into other peoples carts and thinking to myself "Soda & chips, and that's why you're fat." Isn't that terrible? People are mostly ignorant about their groceries. Wheat bread being dubbed as a healthy food when it spikes your insulin just like white bread. I feel like I arm myself with knowledge when I go grocery shopping. I look at 'food products' and label them as poison in my mind, then I don't feel any temptation.

It is best to stick to the outside aisles where the produce is located skipping areas of temptation. Also never shop on an empty stomach.

@Kpp - I check out other people's carts too, but I also wonder what they think about mine since I mostly buy cat food in the supermarket (and lots of it, with 3 cats) and a few other random items.

it is not just the grocery stores. Everywhere you go, junk food is presented. I find it truly distasteful. It's time to call attention to this enigma. People looking down their noses at the obese... So many of them make a living producing, marketing, and selling junk. I suppose I'm preaching to the choir here...

I walked in looking for four things. I left with 5. The impulse buy? 3 fresh muschrooms. :) @Trackin! I'm going to start asking people 'What is that food-like substance you're eating?"
