sonnymac's Journal, 14 April 2016

After all the gargantuan quantities of food consumed at the GoldenCorral yesterday, I fully expected to balloon up in weight. Imagine my surprise and delight at seeing this number stare back at me from the scale this morning, and remember I weighed 173 yesterday morning:

Read yesterday's journal entry for all the lurid details and to view the foods consumed.

My girlfriend is gone today so it will probably be fast food for me.

Rode exercycle 53:30 minutes, 11.05 miles, burning 405 calories. Forgot to mention breakfast was coffee, toast and a serving of grits.

Lunch was a corndog, fried apple pie and coffee.

As mentioned earlier, lite Del Taco fast food was dinner tonight.

so i concluded 2 things from this post either you are to lazy to cook your own food so you rely on fast food, a great way to kickstart diabetics ,or 2 you rely on your " girlfriend" to cook your food. in any event a very lazy answer

I see from your post that punctuation isn't high on your list of priorities. Youngster, I could care less whether you think I am lazy or not. You swoop in and see one entry and immediately snap judge me and move on. Go ahead, run off. Fact is, since 4/15/2015, I went from 230 to now 173 and change, with stops as low as 168. I eat what I want and have managed to stay in the range of 168-175 at my monthly weighin for many months. I cut my HBA1C from 6.3 down to 5.2 and was told by my doctor that I will not become diabetic, just keep doing what you are doing. The only calories that matter to me are those listed on the screen of my exercise bike. I even wrote an e-book about it. So next time you return here, do me and the rest a favor and at least get the spelling and punctuation right. To those viewing this, I love constructive criticism but name calling and passing judgment are things that I don't do here unless severely provoked, as in this case.

Sorry I meant DAILY weighin.

I love the cat! Fast food doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy food. There are some good and healthy choices on the menus of most fast food places. The "lurid details of the scale" gave me a chuckle, but sincerely I wish my scale numbers could look so good! You have a great day and good to yourself!!

Thanks thinner120 for your comment. Yes, not all fast food is bad. For example, today I will hit up Wendys for a chili and tonight most likely Del Taco for a bean and cheese cup, grilled chicken taco and a mini bacon quesadilla which has cheese also. I guarantee these choices are good choices and my weight most likely will drop again by tomorrow morning when I weighin again.

Good for you. I really love your attitude here. I agree with your one entry comment as I I cannot stand negative comments based on a one entry. We are more than that and each day is very different All the very best and more

👍. Yes being overweight becomes what we are for some people. What we need to do is reclaim "us" rather than swinging the other way and become only "dieting". You sound like you have a healthy attitude without becoming unhealthily obsessive. Take care and best of luck!

Phooka - very insightful and I agree 100%. I tend to get weary of the person in a group who is constantly on "a diet". They don't want to go to a certain restaurant because there's nothing they can eat, their life revolves around their diet and they want to recruit YOU. I don't want to be the person on a diet...I just want to be the person who eats normally and fits it in to a happy healthy life.

Thanks, Vickie. I want to lose weight, yes. I NEED to lose weight, yes. But I refuse to be the miserable sod who drags everyone down because I'm "denying" myself something and if I decide I'm having a glass of wine or portion of mashed potatoes I haven't budgeted for then hey, that's my choice and as long as it's occasional and not the norm, then I'm happy. Sorry SONNYMAC for hijacking your post. I think you're doing well and the first reply to you annoyed me a wee bit. Take care.

Thanks so much for the support! I know that some would take a negative comment very hard, not responding, internalyzing, maybe even quit! As a veteran of many battles in stock and bond forums over the last four years, I have grown a thick hide and generally give out more than I take so negativitu rolls off me like water on a duck. I agree that I do not want to be that person agonizing over the mashed potatos etc and quit doing so many months ago. Who knows, my sugar numbers may go up a little when I have my semiannual pow wow with my doctor. But it is a done deal that my weight will be between 170-175 that morning, done deal. That, since weigh daily, is something that I have total confidence in. The thing that I have learned is that aerobic exercise has played a tremendous role in dropping and .aintaining my weight goal now. I cannot recommend any better way than an exercise bike that allows you to use all four limbs. The beauty of it is that you don't have to work all that hard. Once again, thank you all for the support and kind words.

ROFL Phooka...obviously we're acquainted with the same miserable sods. And Sonnymac, you've obviously figured out a system that works for you and keeps you satisfied, healthy and fits into the way you live. Well done!
