ShyGuy's Journal, 28 March 2016

My eating, yesterday, was not a total bust; as I made some good choices, and some bad. However, compared to other holidays, I think I did great. I served at church yesterday, and again the people, serving in the room next to where I was, brought in a lot of food. I limited myself to the scrambled eggs, and a couple of strips of turkey bacon. What's significant though is that I avoided the grits, salmon cakes, rolls, hash browns, and a triple layer German Chocolate cake; which is my all time favorite cake in the world. That wasn't easy! Later in the day I went over to my cousin's house. I had every intention to limit myself to the ham, baked chicken, and collard greens. Things didn't go as planned, as I threw caution to the wind and also had the mac & cheese, cornbread dressing with gravy, barbecued ribs and brown and serve rolls. I even took a small plate to go, when all was said and done, which was eaten as a late evening snack, since we were eating so early in the day. To my credit though, I did limit myself to two rolls, one piece of cornbread, and didn't drink any wine, since I was driving. I also drank about a half gallon of water throughout the rest of the evening, and night. Today, I'm totally back to low carb. In the past, yesterday would have been an excuse to let my eating snowball into a full blown binge of eating carb laden foods, for several days, while trying to get back on track. I won't let that happen, this time, as I have pan grilled salmon, catfish, pork steaks, salads, an assortment of veggies and baked ham on my agenda for this week. I'll also be drinking lots of water, and a few low carb smoothies, as snacks. I fully expect to record a loss, when I weigh in again, next Sunday. :-)

Progress not perfection! You were aware and narrowed it down to ONE day. Great job!

it's like any other learned skill. The more you do it the better you get.

Thanks ladies. Holiday eating is never an easy thing to deal with, so all I can hope to do is limit the damage, either that or not hang out with relatives; which is not going to happen. I've spent too much of my life, living in other places, where I was unable to hang with one part of my family, or the other.
