Eating out of being bored... That's not good... I catch myself opening the fridge when I'm not hungry at all... It usually happens to me when I have more time, for example - during the spring break.
If that happens to you, how do you deal with it? What do you do to stop the binge eating?

Look for something to do with your hands and mouth. Singing out-loud with the radio helps, picking up a book or crossword puzzle. Knitting, needlepoint requires hands, eyes and brain focus. The TV is always a bad idea...because of an earlier discussion about all of the food advertisements on it, plus it only engages your eyes and leaves your hands and mouth to wish for something to do. Drink several large glasses of water to give you a full feeling, then in half an hour or so your time will be taken up eliminating it. Typing on the computer is also handy, start you tube up with some of your favorite video music and sing along while you surf. Hope this helps.

When that happens to me, I paint my nails! By the time I pant them and let them dry, I don't want to ruin them, and the temptation has passed

My daughter gave me a coloring book and colored pencils for xmas to release stress. They have some cool adult coloring books at Barnes n Noble, so that's what I do , coloring myself calm and keeping my fingers busy. I also paint my nails like Carsgirl.

The problem is I've tried almost all of those... that doesn't stop my urge to eat... that's the problem... I think it's psychological, until I find some thoughts to replace those urges... Thanks for sharing though...

That happens to me almost daily! (Used to be several times a day) I found that if I dive into something intellectually stimulating (my doula work usually does the trick!), something I'm passionate about, I get so focused on that I'll forget I was feeling munchy! It is most definitely psychological for me, so I have to find something that FULLY occupies my mind.
