My second night at the Whiskey Pete's Hotel and Casino at the socal/Nevada border. Quiet room but when I first walked in last night, though the bathroom was clean, the toilet was full of paper and would not flush. Had to get engineering up. So far didn't win at WP or the Primm across the freeway but did pig out today at the buffet at Primm Resort.
It is unusual to find a buffet that can present food with subtle and delicate flavors, this is one. While I have lost a lot of weight since last April, I have not lost my desire for good food and a lot of it. I am not counting a single calorie, so far I haven't had to. I don't do regrets either, except passing by a good buffet ;-)
Very disappointed though with my trip out to the Castle Peak area today though. After almost high centering my suv on the rough road and driving 10 miles or so into the wilds, I came to the point where the road went up the steep side of an old earthen dam where the road was heavily damaged by recent rains and could not continue, forcing me to turn around and come back to the hotel. But I did climb a small steep hill late this evening to try to make up for it.
Went to the Goldstrike Hotel and Casino after my hill climb and found out that it has been sold to Terrible Herbst, the gas station and casino moguls, and won back the money I had lost so far! Going to stay there tomorrow night as I hear that the rooms are newly remodeled. Or I may just camp out in my suv tomorrow night over in the area behind the Mojave Cross, a subject that I blogged about many times in the past at my Morongobill's Backporch blog.
