Debbie Cousins's Journal, 02 September 2024

Weight topped out at 209.0 this morning. So far today, I haven’t had any bread. Made a ham & cheese omelet for breakfast. Yesterday I made a giant bowl of Orangedew, Honeydew. Grapes, Watermelon and Pineapple. I also made Fruit Dip, but my goal is to not have any with my fruit. So far, I’ve walked 1/2 mile. I’m going to TRY to get in 6 miles today. I start sweating after 1/2 mile, and I don’t want to do that because I have gotten so fat that I have a yeast infection on my underbelly! Sweating makes it worse because yeast thrives in a warm, moist environment. Going to try to increase Fiber and limit carbs dramatically (but not counting fruit). Wish me luck. It’s an attempt at starting over AGAIN!

Good luck. After getting down to 148 five years ago, I went back up to 222. So I started over. Down to about 212 now, so I'm pleased. Let's just keep moving forward.

Of the 5-6 years that I have been on FS I have seen you follow this same repetitive pattern multiple times. Why do you think that is? Are you open to counseling at all- or is that a been there, done that. It’s just sad you keep putting yourself through this. It must be awful.

Buradimari, yes, I use Hibiclens soap and Ketoconizole cream. It’s improving. Thank you. Kenna Morton, you’re right - I’ve been doing this same thing almost all of my adult life, since I got married in 1983 (over 40 years ago)! Whenever I reach a weight loss goal (or just BEFORE I do), I balloon back up to where I was before (or higher). I’m 70 now, and don’t think there is much hope for change at this point. Congratulations Sheltie Mom! You’re back on the right track and making progress. Keep up the good work. Thank you mkmcdowell.

Two suggestions...consider a 12 step program for food addiction...there are two that are excellent..Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous ...they do not eat flur and sugar, they weight and measure food...or Overeaters Anonymous ..both are free, on line and available 24/7/365...addicts have "tried to quit" and cannot ..that is the nature of being an addict...we are typically addicted to flour, sugar and quantity...we have to control for those 3 variables...and we need support groups..more than FS can provide in my opinion...consider it Debbie...food addiction is a killing disease and baby..it ain't your fault...not a will power issue...most of us believe this is genetic...these programs can help..people have lost 100s of pounds..log on and consider it ..FA or OA>..both are excellent

Debbie, I am a month short of turning 69 & your comment that you couldn't change at the age of 70 disappointed me! You can change...no matter how old you are. Hubby is 81, and he started living a healthier lifestyle right along with me. The biggest change you need to make is to not self sabotage when you're doing well. You have done it. I yo yo dieted for most of my life & something finally clicked 5 years ago. Maybe realizing that if I want to get older & live an active, fulfilling life, I better be healthy.
