Got the opportunity to join a Wellness Center this week. There is a salt-water therapy pool that I can use to exercise in. I'm excited that I will be able to swim/exercise to lose weight now. They have a complete fitness center with exercise machines and weights and a track. I will have to wait a while to be able to use these, until my foot heals, which I hope will be soon.....

How does a salt-water pool differ from a fresh-water one? Do you get greater buoyancy in the water? That sounds as if it would make exercise more impactful.

That's great! It was really helping me being in the gym with other people who had the same goals. I haven't been to the gym in almost two weeks now but can't wait to get back.

Fledgist - The salt-water is a more cost effective system as well as being a safer alternative to chlorine-treated water as the salt acts as a natural sanitizer for the water. It is only 1/12th the strength of sea water, so very mild. It does have some natural therapeutic and health benefits. It doesn't cause "red eyes" from chemical burn as chlorine does. It is healing to any skin problems one might have. Easier on hair and bathing suits too! I also don't get that "chlorine headache" I usually get when swimming in other pools. I haven't noticed that there is more buoyancy with the salt water, probably because the percentage of salt solution is so low. I am very pleased with the therapy pool!
