Diana 1234's Journal, 25 July 2024

So we came home on Sunday. House was ok except my main bathroom’s toilet was running the whole time we were gone and if you guys remember, we had a main sprinkler line leak which my neighbor fixed. Well another line had a pin sized leak which is why we continued to have water usage while we were gone. Joe had to dig and fix that in 112 degree weather. I have mixed feelings about being home. Weird because I had a hard time adjusting to our trip. It was just a lot..we were gone 2 months, traveled 6,000 miles, and visited 14 states. I wish we had done this 10 years ago as it was a lot of work. Just setting up the RV, tearing it down as often as we did, driving long hours, different time zones, finding RV campgrounds, navigating roads and figuring out false gps directions, dealing with all the mishaps and issues we had with rv, and trying to maintain healthy eating and some sort of fitness regimen etc was a huge chore! The 1st month I was able to work out with my weights 3-4xs a week but 2nd half of trip we were either traveling all day or sightseeing so weightlifting was non existent. I was able to eat fairly healthy and still indulge in local cuisine once in awhile. In fact I came home 2.5 lbs lighter than when I started. I think it was due to muscle loss…I took my measurements when I got home. Even though I lost weight, I lost an inch off my biceps and 1/2 inch off thighs. ( for me that’s a negative as it was muscle loss) Waist was the telltale. I went from 29.8” to 32”! I will need to get to work now to get that back down! I’ve been to gym twice since getting home. It felt good and I’m not as sore as I thought I’d be. Anyway, we are home for about a month now so it’s time to get back to my fitness journey! Oh, one more thing…Joe is adamant on buying a new RV…I have in the past been able to talk him out of it but this time I conceded! Our 30’ 5th wheel has served us well but it is a 2010 and too many things are starting to go wrong. We did see some amazing places and visited with family and friends but this is definitely a one time trip. Next year it’s back to the Northwest which we have done before. We will average a 7-10 day stop in each destination. I like that better.💜

Didn't mean to sound like a Debbie downer . We got to see a lot of wonderful sights. Spent 10 days with my son and a week with husbands brother and saw many sites in Colorado and Iowa. We saw the Arch in St Louis, went to many lakes, toured and saw a concert at the Grand Oprey, listened to music almost every day, went to Blake Seltins place and had lunch and saw a kid from Blake's team on the Voice, ate at Paula Deens restaurant ,had amazing seafood in Pensacola and went out on the ocean to watch an air show, , took a boat ride in Hannibal, Missouri, hiked in Louisiana and much more. It was a once in a lifetime trip...I need to remember how blessed we were to see all this!❤️

You took a break. It’s okay. Muscle memory is amazing, just don’t overdo it.

Katsolo, wish I had seen your post earlier! I did an hour and 20 min workout on my own including 20 min running on treadmill and an extra 10 min ending on bike. I woke up in the middle of the night soo sore! I'm walking like a 🦆 today!😅😬🥴

🤣 tomorrow should be even more fun, then. I’ve noticed that when I take shorter walks sometimes, my legs don’t ache at night. Not gonna tell you how many years it took me to figure that out, but it’s a recent discovery. Durp. 🥴

We haven't done the RV thing yet. I would like to. However, I know I would be the only driver, and that can be stressful. The water leaks suck. I'm sorry. We had one about 6 years ago. We were home, but didn't realize a pipe was broken on main sprinklers. We found out after getting a $500 water bill for overusage...20k gallons!

Oh no Diana I'm sorry about all the trouble, hopefully your next trip will be much easier.

Despite the troubles it sounds like an amazing trip. Glad to hear you home safe and sound and getting back in the groove. I've only taken one RV trip, if by comparison you can even call it that. We rented an RV for a drive up the 101 from LA to Laguna Seca Raceway for a long weekend watching motorcycles race the internationals. My lovely wife has wanted an RV for years, she hates packing and unpacking. I always hesitated, I figured she would hate not leaving behind the things she stresses about the most much more. For my favorite hide from the world detox vacation, I most loved renting a Great Depression era stone cabin built by CCC at the long forgotten and hidden gem of a National Park called Lake Wedington in the Arkansas Ozarks, It's just nature, nothing fancy. No more to do there than there was 90 years ago. But don't say I told anybody about it. People in the know enjoy the complete absence of crowds and short cabin reservation times.

I agree w YOH…traveling is fun but hard work! And it does mess up a routine. There’s no place like home. Would love to see pics of new RV!

I will post a picture of new RV when I can. It’s in storage until our truck gets out of shop. It’s beautiful but buying new is stressful to me. Hopefully we will use it enough to make it worth it. It’s bigger than our last one. This one is 36’ and our old one was 30’. 💜
