"doleful foliage", I love that, reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe.

FD🤣🐦⬛ “as the leaves that were withering and sere” (Ulalume🐦⬛) This particular tomato plant stays exactly like that! I don’t know where it finds energy to bear fruits, but it does somehow. So far this variety has been the hardest working tomato in my garden. Btw, is your sourdough streak ongoing? Have a great weekend!

I'll have to look into those, psychedelic tomatoes sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully they don't get you high, or maybe Hopefully they will, lol.

The sourdough streak is still going, although recently it got very rambunctious and broke the glass jar it was in!
Fortunately, I had some remnant in another jar and restored it from that. Obviously had to throw the broke jar and contents out. Very painful. A better non-glasd crock is on order!

fatD- same!! what kind of jar 🫙 do you use for your sourdough?? I have mine in a glass mixing bowl (covered with cheesecloth) and pour discard into the mason jar it arrived in, keep that in fridge and use it.

I walked by and took a picture of black tomatoes yesterday. A neighbor is growing them. They’re so cool looking. I’ll post a pic this morning.

Margatyna, have you had them? The flavor is exquisite indeed. Sweet yet tangy, crunchy yet smooth. Can’t explain🤣

No, I haven't unfortunately! I can only imagine the taste and texture. I have only Bulgarian heirloom tomatoes in the garden. When I moved from Canada to Bulgaria, I took Black Cherokee tomato seeds with me but they didn't thrive well here and this particular year is unsuccessful for the nightshades...

I had no idea sourdough could go rambunctious! Broke the jar!🤣🫙 It makes me appreciate your sourdough even more now! I hope the glass shards didn’t cut your hands… I see you are back to matzoh brei today🤣

LB, grow them next year, I recommend it! The harvest timing is tricky. Unlike other varieties they need to ripen on the vines. Don’t be fooled by their dark purple hue. You have to check the color under the sepal. If it’s green, it’s not ready to be picked yet.

Dazey, if you google Brad’s atomic grape tomatoes, you’ll see what I’m talking about! I was infatuated by their beauty because I’m shallow like that. Not easy to grow, those wispy plants WILL pretend to perish. You just have to ignore them, they’ll be fine🤣

Kat, I am a sucker for dark colored tomatoes. I’m growing chocolate cherry tomatoes too. Next year I might grow Queen of the Night.
