So busy prepping livestock for the heat coming next week. Have been in the mid to high 90s but weather man says 107 by the 4th.
Horses are fine, they sweat...but the birds struggle in the heat. More watering early morning and additional shade structures are all I can do and look for any distressed birds and take them to the 'cooling center' (the back porch lol)

That said, I've dropped a bit more due to constantly being on the move and staying on top of my meal prep - I have plenty of pre-measured food to eat on the go.

Everyone stay safe in the heat!

I am not a fan of all of this heat!! We are mostly in the 90s already. Way too soon. We have a "swimming pool" for the wildlife plus a lot of bird baths for song birds. Some deep some shallow. No big birds but we have a pond for them. They use all of them every day.

107° today. Ducks are doing fine, we only have one chicken left and are stopping with flocks after this round (it’s so hard). She’s an elderly hen living her best life in a large dog crate in the living room AC.

ComeSlither, birds just suffer in the heat, poor things. I canceled farmers market today to keep watch over the ladies...supposed to be 112. I'm moving towards solar/digital timers for my sprinklers, but not there yet. Glad your old biddy is living the life of Riley lol. I tell folks I don't make pets out of them, but I'm a liar 😉
