Evie1010's Journal, 05 September 2011

I'm a bit stuck...but I am not discouraged. I have a whole lifetime to get healthy and daily I make committments that reinforce that my goal is attainable. I am no quitter. I have the tenacity of a bulldog.

Learned something interesting recently. I just love Dr. Atkins book (TNADR) and have learned so much. I had put the book down some weeks ago, delving into some other books that I needed to read at the time... and I was suffering some unusual symptoms - (stalled WL, headaches, digestive distress, nasal drip, among some other things) - and one morning I had a strong urge to pick up the Dr. Atkins book. I literally opened the book up to a random page and started reading. It was one of those "Wow, thanks Lord" moments -- because the urge I had to read -- and the page I began to read identitified a serious challenge I was facing...Yeast Sensitivity. I read two chapters on the subject and followed the good doctors advice to remove any yeast sensitive foods from my diet for one month, such as mushrooms, sour cream, vinegar, hard cheeses (except for Mozz and cream cheese - they're ok), almonds) - and I began taking helpful probiotics. My symptoms have improved drastically. Especially when I take the probiotics. Started to also see some improvement in the scale movement in the right direction, too. I am fluctuating a bit, but that is very normal for me. I feel so good since I have learned this information and indentified this challenge - now understanding that I have experienced an allergic reaction to consuming these items in excess (mainly the mushrooms and almonds). Per the good doc's advice, I will reintroduce these foods back into my diet in a few weeks - slowly, and see if any of the adverse symptoms return. So glad I read up on that -- and I am even more glad that I have a God who loves me, and when I prayed and asked for healing from my discomfort, He cared enough to literally move me to pick up that book and read it -- He even directed me to the right page. (I had no idea that the book even covered yeast sensitivity - and could not believe the jewel of information I stumbled upon.) I am so glad I am in His hands - He is my loving protector and my provider - and the giver of all good things in my life.

Some more great news - my beautiful sister (4 years my senior) has begun Atkins. Now, she is very close to a healthy weight, in my humble opinion...definitely not too far to go to reach her ideal weight (wears size Medium). She is very active and eats very healthfully, too - I am pleased that she has watched my progress for one year and is now motivated to give this WoE at try. Another trip to Cancun will soon be upon us and she wishes to shed some pounds before our vacation. It makes me feel so good knowing that my progress (my 58 inches lost!) has inspired her to commit to this, also. That makes me smile...:) I am so excited for her to reach her goal.

Wow, Evie...what a great discovery and as we know God surely does work in mysterious ways. Also thrilled to hear about your sister...little sisters are such a blessing to we who are the eldest...I am sure she thinks so as well. Will be watching to see how you progress now that you may have found the answer.

Evie - God is truly faithful! That's awesome news about your health issues. Hope the recover process continues!!! Not to mention the downward trend of your losses. Been missing you on the boards lately...trying to get caught back up myself. Hope you and Jim are well. Still keeping you both in my prayers faithfully! Much Love.

@Gwen, hey there!! Thanks for blessing me with your sweet post. It is rather nice being an encouragement to my big sis whom I admire so so much. It was kinda funny - she called me earlier today: "Is this the skinny girl hotline? I need advice on what I can eat at the mexican restaurant. Mom's got coupons and invited me to meet her for lunch. What should I order?!" Isnt' that nice? Made me smile. Gwen, thanks so much for stopping by... Take care!! Hope to see you soon around the FS watercooler!

@Paula, hi dear one! Yay for new discoveries! Yay for learning and trying new things -- an even un-trying old things. :) I've missed you to hon... Thanks so much for your prayers. God is faithful and He's taking care of us. I praise Him in this storm. Remaining thankful, prayerful, and trusting. I don't always understand His ways -- but I still believe and trust. I don't understand how electricity works, but I still flip on the switch. I don't need to understand. I just need to believe. He is loving, caring, providing, and blessing us. Your prayers sustain us -- please don't stop. We feel strengthened by the supplication of God's people. We're clearly not outta the crisis yet. God's still working. I really love you, Paula. Thank you for being my faithful friend. = )
