Has anyone else noticed that being in a calorie deficit, eating less and being more active, somehow makes you feel MORE energetic? Not sure if it’s just me but somehow all my sluggishness is gone, I’m focusing really well at work, and I have endless energy for exercise even with not much food. I’m not excluding anything from my diet or doing low carb, fasting, etc - everything the same just less food, more moving. I’m not even sleeping that great. Don’t quite understand but it’s nice

@OTB lol I mean to be clear I don’t feel like I can lift more or anything, I do feel like there’s a real limit on lifting ability right now, but I just keep going for walks and rowing and lifting and it’s not making me feel all tired for the last few weeks 🤔

My take on it is that you have new found energy because you have switched gears and have a new goal. I have had that same thing occur every time I have switched between a bulk and cut I can say it won't last forever enjoy it while it lasts lol

The more you move, the better you feel you are able to move in general ime. If you've pared down your eating, you have probably elimated foods that were making you feel slow and dull ... and without them the inner you is shining! Go YOU!

Yes, I find that to be true - light or moderate exercise suppresses my appetite. But I also find that I need to eat well and enough the day before in order to have the energy to exercise the next day, so it's a double edge sword sometimes.

I have felt the same way. Another surprise is that the amount of deep sleep I get has increased significantly.

Now you are all talking SCIENCE— these comments are all known scientific facts, ie. Energy creates energy.

Yes! I think overeating is exhausting & all the energy that used to be go to your stomach can now be used in a different way! Enjoy it

MBR and BMI measure fat on calorie expenditure - you are what you consume

I’m in maintenance so, I eat 2000 to 2200 calories per day. That’s where my body feels the best. What I have noticed is I’m super energetic from early morning until around 3-4 pm. Then my energy levels lower. I’m in bed by 8:30-9 p.m. Even 2,000 calories is not really that much food. Before my health journey began 3 yrs ago, I must have been eating prob 4-5,000 calories daily?? And it DID MAKE ME SLUGGISH. Made me sick w t2d and VERY low energy.

I’ve experienced this in the past, this more energetic and focused state, and attributed it to more circulating ketones in the system. I hope my current efforts will get me back there again. I need it for the mental effects most of all, as I’ve been more scatterbrained lately. I need to get more stuff done!

Some kind of high? I can feel that when I accomplish my eating goals. But I do not think undereating actually makes me more energetic. Eating a lot does make me sluggish

Glad to see all the comments of people feeling more energetic when moving more and eating less. Movement is medicine 😄

I wonder if some of it is just a little bit of a summer high for me. These nice long sunny days are very energizing 🤗

my GI feels better when I eat less. I do lose strength in the gym though and can't lift as heavy and it's a little more taxing on my bed as far as recovery from the gym

Under eating is NOT the goal. Eat at a calorie level to support your daily activities. . On days that I know are active and I both swim in the morning and hike with friends in the afternoon, I eat accordingly. If I am in my classes most of the day I let that level of inactivity guide my food choices. On days that I don’t do some type of activity I, like most people, feel like a slug. Swimming first thing in the morning creates that energy that it takes to complete the activities in the remainder of the day, and the mental boost is the frosting on the cake. The extra plus is that I see most of my friends almost everyday either at the pool, at school or hiking.. most of us do all three of these things together.
