Storms do you actually have two breakfasts? If yes, how far apart? And then lunch followed by dinner? Snacks?

@YOH…Sometimes, if I get up really early (like today I was up by 4 a.m. 🙄) I’ll have a boiled egg & maybe some yogurt w PBPowder or PB at 6 a.m. Then my 2nd breakfast at 9 a.m. My lunch is around 1 p.m., dinner around 6 p.m. and if I have any calories left or I’m still hungry, I’ll have a small snack (maybe more 0% yogurt, a boiled egg, or bone broth NLT 7:30 p.m.) I’m in maintenance so, I can have up to 2200 calories daily with my activity level. I normally try to shoot for 2,000 daily calories or under. So, most nights I’m fast asleep by 8:30 or 9 p.m. and if I eat @6 a.m. that’s all the fasting my body wants. I’m usually feeling low blood sugar and hungry by 6 a.m. 🙄 So, I split my breakfast into 2 meals. This is summer schedule. When school is in, I seem to sleep a little longer (exhausted from teaching). So, then I eat @7:45 a.m., lunch at school @12 noon, dinner @4 p.m. because I’m famished after teaching, and last light snack @7 or 7:30 p.m. What’s your eating schedule if you don’t mind sharing.

@YOH…I FRONT LOAD often…which means for me, I’m more hungry in the morning time so, my breakfast is a higher calorie meal. The main thing for each meal is enough protein (animal based for me) and a decent amount of fat or I just don’t feel full.

Im the opposite. Im not hungry till around noon and ravenous at night time. Maybe because hubs works second shift or just a lifetime of trying not to to eat too much so would skip breakfast.

So i usually eat breakfast at 1 then a snack around 3-4 then dinner around 7-8 and maybe a snack after or not. I show it as breakfast lunch and dinner but its really like 2 meals with a couple snacks.

Also i have to keep my calories 1300-1400 to maintain unfortunately . Im glad you are out of school. 5 years to go now right?
13 Jun 24 by member: Yearofhealth2023
@YOH…Yes, 5 years. Hope I can make it. We activity teachers had 33 classes each week this past school year. Next year possibly 2 more added. Over 800 little souls. Our building is the only one in our district with 3 grades. It’s getting to be a bit MUCH. Another “why” to try and be healthy as I can. Still not mastered at it but learning a lot about nutrition along the way and I’m at least trying. I find nutrition fascinating! Like science. It is science. My sugar levels would drop too low if I only ate 1300-1400 calories. I just don’t feel good going that low.

Fasting until 1 pm has been beneficial for many. For some reason, prob my t2d 🙄, I don’t feel well if I wait that long to eat.

Storms when i was younger i would skip breakfast (depending on where i was at in my health journey) purposely to conserve calories. Same reason i rarely drank - calorie conservation. I recognize now that it was a disordered eating pattern it’s just that at this stage in my life it seems to be working given the low calories needed to maintain. Im so envious of those that can have 1800, 1900 our 2000 calories a day.

P.s. i don’t LIKE going that low its that damn adrenal failure combined with MTHFR gene mutation. Not friendly on the ole metabolism.
13 Jun 24 by member: Yearofhealth2023
@YOH …adrenal failure is rough. I think it’s related to lack of red meat and not enough saturated fat, or so I’ve heard. Maybe research how to re-start your metabolism? I’ve come across some info on that, too. Sounds like your metabolism has lowered due to very low calories. What is the other you mentioned?? Never heard of it.

No my metabolism has lowered due to the adrenal failure. It’s caused by prolonged exposure to very high stress or at least thats what my doctor suspects. . It was always on the lower end of the spectrum in part due to the MTFHR gene mutation but AF made it much worse keeping an eye on homocysteine levels is important. The only thing i can really do at this point is to keep trying to add muscle which will allow for higher calories.

@YOH…just looked up what the gene mutation is that you said you have…Read several articles. Interesting. Seems like good gut health is mentioned in each article I read. Sorry you have to deal with this. :/
