Happy Saturday FS friends

Cannot believe how time has flown. We saw the pulmonary surgeon who scoped and biopsied John's lungs the other week. Confirmed that it is cancer but the lesion cannot be removed as it is too close to the aorta. Chemo and radiation are expected to treat it as the type he has usually responds well to this protocol. Once gone (fingers and toes crossed), he will be on immunotherapy for life. No metastasis elsewhere either, so good news. Still scary though as there is a challenging road ahead, hopefully a path we start down soon.

So my goddaughter came and has now returned home. Fabulous visit although admittedly I'm pooped. Toured some Toronto sights day 1, the CN tower, Ripleys aquarium and the Bata Shoe Museum. Day 2 and 3 did all things more natural in Niagara Falls - two sets of tunnels taking up behind the falls and beside the falls, took the boat to the bottom of the falls the white water walk, the original power generating station and the antique whirlpool aerocar. Also went to the butterfly conservatory and for lunch at a winery in Niagara on the Lake. Each evening we set up a fire in the firepit by the river, had some adult beverages (not me though as I didn't want to go too far off plan). Day 4 was a quiet morning spent at home, then the drive to the airport. No idea where my weight will land however except for 1 ice cream cone, I tried not to deviate too much. When she would have uniquely Canadian things like poutine and beavertails, she'd share a bite with me. Did I want my own serving? Of course. Having come so far though, I don't want to cave in at this stage. Hopefully will be a smidge closer to that 100lb lost milestone. I guess we'll see on Monday AM.

And so it goes

Over and out

Thanks guys Your support means the world. YOH you would think he'd feel some relief but doesn't seem to be the case yet Have started to assign him small tasks to get him more active and out of bed or chair in front of the TV. He has always been active and his body is not responding well to the prolonged periods of idleness. One day at a time

Anni he is so fortunate to have a loving friend in you. Not many people have such friends. Depression will probably be a part of the fight and having chores will allow him to be distracted from the scariness that is this journey.

Fellow Canadian here. 👋🇨🇦 Read some of your posts. Following to share support. Cancer is not nice and part of my family too. Be strong. I’ll be praying for John and for you. ❤️🙏🏻

Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your Goddaughter. Treated her to some authentic local "tourist" experiences. Sound like John's illness is treatable, and hopefully will be cured.
