WM0000's Journal, 09 April 2024

File this post under "mental health." I took the afternoon off from the office and went to view and photograph the eclipse. I was on a 14,000-acre wildlife reserve without a soul in sight. When totality arrived, I was humbled and felt so insignificant in the movement of the universe, while at the same time, I felt that I was the most important person in the cosmos. That's the best way I can describe it. Really, no words were possible other than "wow."

If you ever get a chance to witness an eclipse, do it alone. It's an entirely different experience.

Breathtaking. And yes, alone and in nature. Spontaneously traveled to path of totality in 2017, and it was nowhere near the mindful ideal you brought to fruition. Thank you for sharing this!

Great pics. I went also but there was a crowd. Still in awe! My words as I looked through the glasses first, then two telescopes were the same as yours…WOW!!

I am such an internal person, I can just imagine what a humbling and spiritual experience that would be without the external distractions of noise, interruptions etc. Amazing. And stunning photos!

It was incredible. We made a family event out of it but I can imagine how special it was alone.

It was amazing! Truly a site to see. What kind of camera did you use to capture such amazing photos?

@Villager8 - I used a Canon - EOS R7 with a 300mm lens. In my opinion, the type is camera is not important. Knowing how to use the manual settings is more important. Also, for the eclipse, I used a neutral density filter. Foe the eclipse, this filter allowed me to really crank up the f-stop without losing the colors of the subject being photographed.

I cant believe this was taken with a DSLR!! Wow! Amazing talent! I thought you may have used a telescope with a phone/camera attachment!
