I would have been freaking out thinking I was getting a stroke not a headache.

yikes definitely not that I looked it up it's a thing just never something that's happened to me before I did change from heavy weight low reps to lighter weight higher reps today think I just wasn't breathing right because I haven't done that rep range in the last 5 weeks

after some more reading looks like another factor was tilting my head too far back to look in the mirror while watching my form.

I get a headache thinking about workouts so yeah. That’s the same, right? 😂😂 Be careful there. The kids are having a blast.

I think it's the breathing. Good training for the spartan race, your children are also having fun :)

Shark3000 silly breathing who needs to breath lol I think that was the biggest issue

Does the headache come from the blood pressure spiking during a heavy lift? I am just curious because I have a heart condition and not allowed to be a power lifter (aka which I said heck no!) but they said during the lift when you hold your breath it puts pressure on aortic valve thus it could cause it to burst if you have thinning of the aortic wall so not an issue for healthy individuals. I wonder if it affects the vessels in the brain too. Just a thought.

Another thing to consider. Be sure that you are hydrated.

Not sure if this is related but I often get dizzy and feel faint doing squats? No headache tho… but it freaks me out

redporchlady could be I think I was definitely holding my breath and pulling my neck up too aggressively. I have been using heavier weights for the past 5 weeks focusing on the 3 to 4 rep range for deadlfits so I need to be more contious of the Changes I need to make.

It was earlier in the day but I do a gallon of water every day and make sure to add electrolytes and use salt

Glad that you listened to your body and stopped and didn’t end up like one of fainting guys on gym fail tik toks! As someone who gets many pounding headaches, I feel your pain. Literally. But I have no answers as to why. Still trying to figure out why I get mine.

thiccmami it was intense I stopped and ate lunch right after it happened then went back to try with the lower weights. I spoke with a few people that this has happened to them a few times over their years of lifting while doing heavy deadlifts.i hope it's a one time thing. I wasn't doing anything outside my abilities which is the part that makes it stranger.

Were you subconsciously holding your breath with the exertion instead of breathing out with the exertion? That could cause a tremendous amount of pressure to build up.
