I will be starting a vacation Saturday! We're taking the train from Van Nuys, CA to Portland, OR. I'm not too concerned about meals out, as I've learned to be assertive when ordering, but meals on the train itself are problematic. It's strictly pre-cooked meals, like airline food, and Paleo is not one of the special meal options. My current plan is to take emergency rations of jerky and Paleo-friendly trail mix, but I would welcome other suggestions. Anyone had experience with Amtrak meals v. Paleo?

Just went to Whole Foods here in Tarzana, CA and found that they have a new grain-fed beef supplier! (Well, new since I've been in there.) The beef from Hearst Ranch looked good and is almost affordable. If y'all live in Southern California it may be worth checking out.
