I went to an Iftar celebration last night sponsored by American Muslim Voice with many interfaith folks in attendance. The cuisine was Pakistani and I managed pretty well with salad, eggplant and a meatball (eschewing naan, lentils, chickpeas, etc). But there was no way I could gracefully refuse a date, the traditional food for breaking the Ramadan fast. So I ate one. It was SOOOOOOO sweet. I can hardly believe I used to like them. Funny how our tastes change with our diet.
