redgirl1974's Journal, 14 September 2015

Ok, Imma say what I'm sure a lot people here are thinking. Fat Secret is a weight loss support group for advice, encouragement and logging your diet and exercise. It is not a place to post religious beliefs or ideas or to quote scripture unless it pertains to your personal weight loss goals. I respect every single person here and have utmost respect for religion and personal beliefs but I'm tired of seeing it here everyday to the point that people are arguing back forth. Quit forcing the rest of us to deal with it.. even if I'm just scrolling and not even posting or comment on your religious rants, its annoying. I'm here to lose weight. if I want a sermon Ill attend mass on Sunday. Again, my respects to everyone and their beliefs but it really doesn't belong on FAT Secret.. feel free to delete me if this offends you in any way.

Smh...this isn't facebook. Not the place for arguing. This is a place for support. I get where you're coming from Redgirl.

I just wish there was a way to not have them in the feed, period. I shouldn't have to scroll past or ignore them, I shouldn't even have to see them. To me, religion is a crutch, just like food. Filling one addiction with another isn't healthy.

OK. Sorry, I'm going to interject here. nmporter, I have no religion, so this isn't a religious statement. ANYTHING that helps us on this journey to health, as long as it's not hurting anyone else, is fair game, not a crutch. Listing all your exercise or every carb you eat (I'm high complex carb), or every annoying person pushing food on you at work is going to annoy SOMEONE. But, these are still our journals to talk about anything we need to, to help with our journey to health. What is NOT OK is sniping at ANYONE on their journals just because you disagree with them. Everyone's trip is different and deserves respect.

I haven't seen the arguing but agree whole heartedly. Find another site for arguments, ignore what you don't agree with and support what you do!

LOL. I'm just old.

I shared with a friend what you said. Politics also became an issue for several people and I wrote to them privately and asked they stay on course with the site.... weight loss and not arguing politics.

Redgirl, you are 100% correct, there is no room for politics, arguing or religion on fatsecret. If a person wants to post religion in their journal, that's one thing. The regular threads, such as Low Carb Daily Check In, is a whole other ball game. That thread use to be very active every single day until the bible thumpers came along, now it's almost dead as nobody wants to hear about how the Lord has helped them not eat carbs. There are many members, probably lots of new ones, missing out on the experiences of the ones who have walked this journey for years and know how to navigate it well all because a few seem to think we want their religion in our lives. I do not, I'm on fatsecret to control and maintain a weight issue.
