00Waffle's Journal, 21 August 2023

I've been fighting the past 20 years to lose weight. Constantly going up and down and up, mostly due to stress eating. I'm tired all the time and my feet are constantly sore from carrying 312 lbs around (the heaviest I've ever been). Surprisingly enough, I'm not diabetic, yet, and nor do I want to be. I've finally got my head in the right space now and I'm ready to tackle this thing the right way. I started week 1 on 8/14/2023 with getting my diet on track. I think it went well, all things considered. I lost 9 lbs of water weight, which is typical the first week for me when I stop binging sodas and sugars.

This week, I'm introducing exercise, walking daily, which will mostly be done on a treadmill until it cools down outside a bit more. Looking forward to building my endurance back up and get into more intense exercise again, lifting, running, keeping up with the kids :D.

Rooting for you... I'm in the same boat. FYI -- if you have access to a recumbent elliptical, you can get really good cardio exercise without standing on your sore feet. I started doing this because I was in physical therapy for nerve damage in my left foot from a back injury. I had joined a gym specifically for the indoor walking track, but the track is "banked" so walking meant one leg higher than the other, and that was make my back hurt something awful. PT recommended the recumbent elliptical and it's been a godsend.
