Happy hump day FS friends.

Am turning into a fisherwoman wannabe. Still haven't caught a single fish though. Two evenings ago, we went back to a different pier near the International train bridge. Stayed about 2 hours. Caught weeds. A young lad arrived about an hour into our attempts, set his line and within 10 minutes had caught not 1, but 2 nice bass. Seeing his success, we adopted his bait type and technique and hung in for another hour. Zip, nada, zero, zilch. Fresh air, by the water, watching the sun start to set - life is good.

Yesterday morning, after dropping my car off to have brake work done, we headed into the pretty little town Chippawa, home to Laura Secord - heroine of the war of 1812. We had been told that under the bridge was a good place to fish as bass liked to hide in the deep pools there. Well, I caught stuff. The bridge twice, rocks three times, a rope and my go to - the weeds. Thanks to a young American tourist, my lure was rescued from the rocks and the rope.

On the plus side, last year this time, I could not have stood for 4 consecutive hours. Not a chance - back would have been aching, legs would have been wobbling. Thanks to some weight loss, work at the gym and gardening,there was no issue at all yesterday. Major NSV!

Am planning 1 food indescretion in the days to come. For 3 years we've been craving rum and raisin ice cream. Mostly disappeared from production. So I found a recipe online that doesn't involve an ice cream maker. A Jamaican verson that incorporates raisins, dark rum, whipping cream and condensed milk. Plugged the ingredients into FS and holy cow, a whopping 621cal/serving. High fat, high carb...surprise surprise. Good thing that John is on vacation as he will likely snorf most of it (at 6'6in 195lbs he can eat pretty much anything and not gain an ounce)

So there you have it. Fishing and ice cream. Who said life is dull?
