Going on a vacation tonight. I got some resistance bands to bring with me since they’re small and light, easy to bring on an airplane. I don’t usually use bands much so this weeks workouts will be a change for me. I’ll be able to jog, do body weight exercises, and whatever I can do with the bands. I’m curious to see how it feels. A buddy who had nothing but bands and a jump rope put on a ton of muscle during pandemic times, so I fully believe it’s possible to get a good workout.

Looking forward to seeing family and old friends but not looking forward to having alcohol put in my hand all week. There have been times in my life that I enjoyed it, but lately I just don’t really like how it makes me feel. During or after 😩 But it’s weird, it’s hard to say no when it’s put in front of me. My old “hell yeah!!!” habit just kicks right in. So I’m hoping to keep that part of things chill and really try to enjoy being in the moment with people I care about. Social anxiety is a major trigger (yes that exists with family, maybe even more so!) so my challenge to myself for the week is to sit with those mildly uncomfortable moments and just deal.

Not concerned at all about diet for the week. I’ve been pretty consistently at a deficit for the last couple weeks, so any vacay surplus should hopefully just smooth out into maintenance when looking at the month as a whole.

I quite drinking years ago and like not being around it.

Tip for alcohol, the weather is hot, add lots of ice to your drink, keep adding ice, it will water it down make it stretch so you look like you are drinking, but not really. Folks that check your glass to make sure you are having a good time can be distracted for a while.

@Morticia yeah I really don’t like it very much these days, I haven’t quit completely but every time I have a small amount it just reminds me that I’m really not a fan. @debra that’s a great idea 😁 I can just keep a full glass and keep saying “thanks, I’m good”. No one will ever know. That reminds me one time I needed to drive home after an event and my friends were drinking… a lot… so I poured myself water shots and “drank” with them and no one had any idea…. The next day someone asked how I drove home and I said “I was just drinking water, you guys never noticed 😁”

@notmyfirstcardio thanks for the link! It looks like that’s a paid service so to start out I’ll be trying a variety of things I found for free… we will see where this leads me 🙂

Forgive me if this sounds judgy but we are all grown ups why cant you just say no? No thank you I’ve decided i dont want to drink today/tonight. If asked why, better for your health. I dont get it?

@dyerseve you’re the second person saying they love bands. I’ll certainly give them a chance!! Maybe they can make it into my regular rotation after this week

@kenna and @YOH - yup. No problem from anyone else if I say no. The problem is that I tell myself I’ll say no until it’s offered, then I say “sure!!! 😄” and I’m not sure exactly what happens in my brain to get me to that point. I think maybe I get some mild social anxiety and it becomes difficult to turn down. Not that there’s anything wrong with having a drink now and then, so nothing wrong with saying sure. I’m just trying to set an intention to say yes a little less this week, and let myself experience and get through a little more of the anxiety without it.

It's knowing what to do with the dang things that's the problem, lol. Once I watched a few youtube videos, I realized how many different workouts can be achieved with a simple loop of elastic. The air bicycle one with the loop between your feet really hits hard 😂
