Even tho I am new at this , I have discovered that if I put one bite of sugary treet in my mouth seems like that only makes me crave sugar the rest of the day. so I thought I would share this so I got all unhealthy snacks out of the house. This seems to be the best solution for me. If anyone has any tips on sugar cravings, please feel free to tell me.

Congrats on getting the unhealthy snacks out! I think the issue, craving or addiction, transcends sugar in that I choose not to buy my trigger foods (mayo, cheese, nuts, etc.). Peanut butter is a trigger food too, but as long as I don't have any of it, not even to lick it off of my finger if I were to get messy when making a sandwich for my daughter, I'm ok. I've 'cleaned' my mistakes before and next thing I knew it was spoonfuls. Sugar will stimulate receptors in your brain that will cause you to want more, it's a pleasurable thing and the mind wants to (almost) seek pleasure at all cost. Some will seek it more then others, these are the people that have a higher change of addiction then those that don't have such an intense pleasure drive. I avoid my 'craving' foods at all cost. I've learned to find pleasure in every day things, things that can't make the scale go in the wrong direction. :D Again, good job on taking a step to get rid of the unhealthy snacks!

I think (hope) you'll find that the longer you go without, the less you'll crave.

oh great move, getting it OUT of the house. After a few months, a fresh and yummy watermelon or tomato, is like the sweetest most awesome taste to me...and girl, I loved my chocolate and well donuts, lol I like to cut up a cup full of bite size watermelon chunks now, I put in the fridge and that is my "way to go" snack...it is delicious!

I agree, getting the triggers out of the house is most important and then not allowing any of it into your shopping cart. If there is anything in my house, I will eventually get into it. I have no will power when it comes chocolate so it can not cross my threshold. As far as sugar cravings they do get better but I would suggest that you try not to provide an alternative until you have reduced the cravings. If you are on Atkins, sweets aren't on the induction phase. I, too, love watermelon but it is high in carbs and not an Atkins choice. Berries are the first move.

I was at my wit's end trying to lose weight, it seemed I could never fully break away from the carb/sugar cycle but then, in desperation, I asked a friend for help. He told me about the LCHF way of dieting and I've been sugar/carb free for over a month without ANY cravings or feeling deprived. I SWEAR I watched my 52" waist MELT away in the first two weeks. I don't think I'll ever go back to sugars (this includes fruits) and pastas again...
