I celebrated my 80th birthday last week, which I find quite amazing. 80 is OLD, there's no denying it, and I see all those wrinkles when I look in the mirror, but the person living inside this old body still wants to do cartwheels. Someone told me, many years ago, that I have an old soul, but I have come to believe that the body ages, the soul retains its youth. Perhaps life here on earth is the caterpillar stage, and death is the pupa stage, after which the soul emerges as a butterfly, beautiful and free at last.

Without commitments of any kind, I can comment that I prefer a Mediterranean diet of proven quality in the foods and species that make it up, to exercise (to control laziness), not to worry about controlling my weight, to sleep well at least 6 hours, for this not to go to bed after 10 p.m., no smoking, I only drink alcohol at infrequent family parties (don't mix it with driving, it's essential). Behave well, do good, and don't look at whom. Blessed and praised be Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Happy birthday shirfleur….I’m about to turn 60 and while i know that is officially grown up and i always thought that was ‘old’ I don’t feel old. 80 is just 60 like 40 is 30. Ive discovered so many wonderful things in the aging process—patience, more kindness, more tolerance, understanding and so on. Of course the price is sore back, bad shoulder, and problems sleeping. I told my daughter just yesterday that if i was the person today when she was growing up i think i would have been a much better mom…and i was and am a really good mom. I’m so glad i get to know you a little bit thru fatsecret. I think you are amazing. Give yourself a hug from all of us who would do so if we met you in real life💕
