CatHerder's Journal, 13 June 2015

I hope everyone is having a terrific weekend so far.

The temperature here yesterday evening was around 90 with over 50% relative humidity. It was pretty tough to run and I was only able to go for 50 minutes. I ran 4.28 miles at an average pace of 11:38/mile. I think I took off too fast and should have watched my pace better. I'll blame it on getting used to the GPS watch.

On the GPS watch front, I really like the POLAR M400. It is so much more convenient than using my cell phone with a running app. Paired with heart rate strap I could see how much effort I was using during my run. My heart rate got pretty high during my run and I could adjust my pace accordingly. The hills really got my heart rate up. It appears the watch lost the GPS signal once as there was a spike in my pace graph. No issues with the heart rate monitor.

The other thing I like about my watch is that I can download the data through my phone using bluetooth or at my computer using a USB cable. The battery life also appears to be good as I have worn it since Wednesday night plus a run using the GPS and it's still at 100%. The step count appears to be as accurate as any other device and the sleep tracking is a little off from the UP24 I have. I really can't say which one is more accurate.

I have another run later this morning. This one is for 90-105 minutes. We'll see how the watch does on this one.

I hope everybody has a great weekend!

Glad that the GPS watch is working well and adding to workouts. It's great to be able to easily monitor heart rate while exercising. Have a great weekend.

I also do heart rate monitored exercise - it is really helpful to know and helps me push harder when capable!
