I would think your body would say "thank you" for NOT insisting on eating when you were NOT hungry...Summer can be a BUMMER when it gets OVERHOT...which is rarely the case in Western NC...we are blessed!!!!!!!!!!

the heat can make you not want to eat. Or feel worse if u do. Keep hydrated.

You are smart to listen to your body! Wish I could still use coconut oil but it shot my lipid's through the roof and the doc said no more. I loved the weight I lost while using it ... I never felt hungry and had so much energy. Good for you!

The heat and humidity can make it so one is not very hungry. Make sure you get enough water. My suggestion is to not let that not eating go very long as day after day of it is not at all good for your body and you can have major health problems.

I get that way too in the warmer months. Too bad that doesn't correlate to more weight loss. But drinking lots of water will make you feel better, at it does for me.

You guys should look into intermittent fasting. It blows all of that 6 meals a day stuff out of the water. There is a growing body of evidence that suggests that it is incredibly beneficial for humans and can even extend our life spans. UFC fighter Rhonda Rousy follows that meal plan and she's a professional athlete and is in amazing shape. It can't be that bad for ya!

Yep! Very hot in my home too and we can't even turn out the AC due to small rooms and my daughter (who had a very-very bad pneumonia last year) and my mother (mild asthma) being home. But... it makes me... drink beer! Today I got down, until now, 2L of tap water w lemon and more than 1 L of beer - I'm guessing that's not good, no matter how much I exercise now! Bad habbits return: not eating and drinking beer :( ! :)

I forgot about getting trough 1 pack of cigs since this morning, while in the last days I managed to stay under 1/2 packs/day! :D Conclusion: hot weather is good only for the beach and hikes and "walks" (or whatever) in the park! :)

Really sorry for hijacking, but about what Summerbreesy wrote: think about muslims which have ramadan to prepare for hot weather and orthodox (not only, but these I know better) also have a lot of fasting periods and orthodox monks and nuns (and not only them) do it more often and more drastical. ;) Google christian-orthodox fasting and habbits and you'll see how "cool" they are, even from a nutritionist's point of view. ;)

No, I'm trying to convert anyone - looool! I think I was also supposed to fast now?! Not sure... but either now or... soon anyway (but unfortunately... I kind of skip these) :) ...

Those are interesting comments! Are you actually a nutritionist ? I am one & don't know any who would support fasting for good health only!.... If for religious reasons, there are obviously no choice but for any other purposes, my advice would be avoid it!.... whereas coconut oil, i know it's a very contraversial topic currently, but all i say it's got lots of saturated fat unless other oils, so not so healthy!....

@Londonfox - No, I'm not any kind of nutritionist, but fasting, for orthodox (for example, but surely not just them!) is kind of a very good thing, even health-wise, I'd say: first, take the climate where this religion developed and then let's start with Christmas. I'm a Christian orthodox and I'm supposed to know this stuff, but I really have no idea and google-ing it now would seem like cheating. So: a few weeks before Christmas, we're supposed to get... vegetarian - that's fasting for us! For weeks or months in a row, we're supposed to feed only on stuff that does not come from animals. From time to time we get what's called... let's say "permissions", like we have a day when we can eat fish or meat or milk and cheese or eggs or some of these etc.. Then... it's Christmas and people here celebrate it with pork meat, a lot of it! Then, the rest of the "sacrificed" pig is set to be consumed in the harsh winter months to come, when, beside canned vegetables, no fresh produce is available (well... now we have, in the shops, strawberries in November, but that's not the point, lol!). Same goes before Easter, when, guess what, it's no longer the fat pig that's to be sacrificed, but a lamb, one that's to be consumed before the hot weather starts, at the end of the fasting period and, in all kinds of once home-made products, until the garden-crops start to fruit (and that lamb is to be "sacrificed" just before the sheep would, traditionally, leave for the mountains, with the sheppards, for the summer! ;) ). Then, during the summer, at key periods for this climate, there are more fasting periods, but they no longer have a "sacrificed animal for celebration" and have very few "permission" days ;) . Also, traditionally, "very religious" (and not just them - loool! Even my mother does it, both for faith and for figure! ;) ) people "fast" on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and what's bad about being vegetarian for 3 days/week? If you want to "pray" or "say thanks", you can "black-fast" (that's how it's called) on a few Fridays in a row - this means not eating anything until sunset and then only eat "bread and oil" (carbohydrates and fats - but without a limit; and during the day you drink a looot of water! There is the variant, I think, not sure, even without water, but... who does that?!) - many monks and nuns do it more often, sometimes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays together, for weeks of months. Kids under 7yo and pregnant ladies are not supposed to fast ;) . Next, let's take Muslims (I'm not one, but I talked about this with some "true-believing" Muslims and they agree): their religion developed in hot climates and... guess what?! They are not supposed to eat... pork meat, which, guess what, is very fat and fat food and hot weather don't mix well together, as anyone now knows! Then... they have Ramadan! Which is a month of more drastic fasting, but which is set... when their bodies have to get prepared for the very hot summers they have! What's bad about that?! Have you ever heard of a Muslim dying because of Ramadan's... anything, dietary regime being included?! I asked and the Muslims I know, at least, never heard of one! So... the topic could be detailed a looot more, but... anyway... that's what I've meant with what I've said earlier. :) In the orthodox religion, monks and nuns are known to live, all, very... "general long lives" and I'd bet their lifestyle too, has a lot to do with it! ;) It kind of pays off to "be good" in your religion ;) ! Looool! Really... look into it: I think you might like it ;) ! :)

P.S. If you're sick and it's not good for your health, you're not supposed to fast or you can do it "special ways", which your priest will allow if you explain, like... "milk producs allowed all the time" etc.! ;)

I can agree on the heat, ours is out, I don't feel like eating either, but made nachos, quick and didn't add to the heat in here much. Been hitting mostly water today too, heat can really mess with your appetite.

DDc81... I have asthma and extremely susceptible to pneumonia. My Doc recommends turning on my ac and make sure my filters are changed as it keeps many triggers out of my house. Also the hot humid air often makes it VERY difficult for me to breathe. AC is a lifesaver for me.

@wholefoodnut - Cooooool!!! I had no idea it was good - I never thought about it even! Thank you a lot! ;) My mom's kind of that type of persons that hates cold or sweat or any exercise or drafts of air or anything like these 'cause... they will kill you or something similar and if she said it's not good for the lungs... I guess I didn't question it. Somehow... we ended up with a very big pop-out picture on the wall - that's what the AC became, loooool. It sound logic what you say... And I remember that, last year, when I was w my daughter in hospital, they had AC units for all the rooms and they were on most of the day - and it was the "no. 1" children's emergency hospital in the country, the pulmonology ward. Thanks again: now I can turn it on with peace of mind - and not live in sauna - hihihi! Thank you for the info! :)

DDC81 I've had asthma for years, worse the older I get, though thanks to a great doc and meds it's pretty controlled. I read that and in my mind was what is this person thinking? The hot humid air has less oxygen per volume as more of the space is taken up my water. You have to breathe more air to obtain enough oxygen, the same thing happens during the ozone alerts as then there is less useable oxygen in the volume of air. That's why there are public warnings to check on elderly neighbors, cities open up cooling centers, give away fans and ac units to those in need. Heat and high humidity especially if for multiple days can aggravate breathing issues. Those days to me the air feels thick and heavy and I have to actually work to breathe. My next door neighbor with asthma says the same thing as does another neighbor with COPD (she checks with me to see if I also feel it to make sure she isn't having a more serious problem). I love being outside, I love warm weather, the 98 degrees on Wed felt wonderful, as did working outside the next day in 95 the humidity is high. Working outside in heat and humidity means for me coming inside to the ac for a breathing break off an on to let my lungs rest a bit and catch up and often my rescue inhaler. No comment for me on fasting. I don't do it though sometimes I forget to eat when I get involved with projects and remember when my glucose drops and I get dizzy, sick to my stomach and a headache.
