I often wonder that myself. I know that stress and day-to-day activities can actually raise my numbers. When I sleep I am relaxed and certainly not doing much but breathing. Think this is something that I will do a bit of research on. My first thought is that I am not eating anything and since it is a fast that nothing regulates the blood sugar. But isn't it fun to have those lower numbers, even after fasting!

I heard it has something to do with Liver enzymes and laying down. Still, I am loving these numbers, but I am looking forward to the day when my highs are in the 120's or less. :-)

So it seems that we need to learn to sleep standing up....and not lying down!

LOL, I just said that to my wife

When you don't eat for awhile, the liver of an insulin resistant person converts extra proteins into glucose. I have been studying this to find out why I was not losing weight. It seems that I have been overdoing it with the protein, and have to eat more fat in order to get enough calories on a low-carb diet. My personal protein limit is 90 g per day. Fat is glucose neutral, so I drink Bullet Proof tea. I can't have coffee, because it spikes my blood sugar. It has something to do with the way my body metabolizes caffeine. Diabetes is the pits.

Look at Evie1010's entry for today as she gives her bullet proof coffee recipe. She has had tremendous success with weight loss. I am going to try it and see what it does to my blood sugar....if it doesn't affect it, I will continue. You can google Bullet Proof Coffee to see more research and lots of recipes. I read today on another site that we shouldn't have any carbs before going to bed....also said something about not having too much protein as it could also convert into sugar as we sleep. I guess if you have the munchies you are safe with pork rinds or something else high in fat. If I find more on this or can locate the article I was reading I will give you a PM. I guess for tonight it is either stand up and sleep or just be prepare for a higher fasting reading:)

Bullet Proof 'tea' is just the coffee recipe made with black tea instead. Pork rinds have 18g of protein per ounce, so don't go there either. I've been looking into "Fat Bombs", but don't like any of the recipes.

omg, fat bombs...I didn't really know what these were until right now when I looked them up. These recipes looked good to me: http://lowcarbediem.com/fat-bombs-recipes-atkins-ketosis/. I'm going to have to try these out soon! It appears they are ok for Atkins (?)
