Well, I just came back from the gym, it's 10 pm here. I went 2.2 miles. This week I did: Thurs. weight lifting, Saturday weight lifting, 2 miles Sun., 1 mile Mon plus weights, 1 mile Tues and Weight Watchers, and tonight makes 6 miles this week.
Honestly, I feel great. From two weeks ago when Bridget got me to go with her to her class, the pain in my shoulder has been reduced to about 1% of what it was. My ankle doesn't hurt, and my back does not spasm every time I lie down, both things that were happening all the time before I started lifting weights. I did not wake up in pain this morning, just a little stiff from having excercised. Plus, the fact that I have to prove to my husband that I will do it is keeping me going there. Boy, what a bad spot for a gym - it's 8 miles from my house. Gah. But, it's open all day, so I can go straight from work - I practically pass it on the way home. I started to talk myself into only going 5 days a week, and then I thought wtf? Not even a week and you're talking your way out of it? Ok. Plan is to go every day. I agreed to a year plan, $30 bucks a month. Initiation fee was $60. That's cheap for around here.
And the menu plan - it's great to have a print out of my usual choices with the calories posted on the fridge, so that I can plan the calories for breakfast and lunch each day - and I read this book called The Omnivore's Dilemma about where food comes from, so I may never eat anything fast food ever again. Too much information, but I did pass up french fries this morning because of the book and also because I had a healthy cottage cheese and nectarine snack in my lunch box with me. I don't follow the plan exactly, but I like having a guideline so I don't have to think when I first get out of bed! Don't know about you all, but I have to get up at 6:30 to get to work. Should get up at 6, but I pack up everything at night, set the timer on the coffee machine, and don't even have to have matching socks so dressing takes about 4 minutes. Breakfast on the drive. It's working ok - I like my job and I have a flexible situation so there is no pressure to hurry or even look good!
My main problem is this: I work on a construction site, and the only rest room/facility is a port-a-potty that the 8 guys use. I have been going to the Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds to use their bathrooms, and I buy something every time. I thought I could just get a small tea, but I have no will power to resist coffee and some food every other time. So, it costs me about 300 calories a day and $5 to go to the bathroom at work! I have to figure out something else to do!
My older daughter is home now from her boyfriend's - so at least someone else will clean the kitchen. Boy, I'm tired - I have also been sleeping really well the past week due to the exercise! Good night all, and have a great day tomorrow!
