It's that time again already: Booster.💉🧑🏻‍⚕️

My last Omicron bivalent shot was early September 2022 to protect me over the holidays in crowded stores and while visiting my brother for Thanksgiving. This latest one will be for a trip I'm going on in 3 weeks. Every instance I've heard of getting Covid appears to happen following a vacation or from getting it from unvaccinated, school-aged infected children.

So like all the other shots, today I'm getting in a big workout just prior to the appointment and pounding the water. Had a mango for breakfast and lunch will be a big Thai cucumber salad (2 seeded cucumbers, shredded carrots, red onion, peanuts, sliced jalapeños, cilantro and a dressing made of rice vinegar with lime juice and a pinch of sugar).

Have a healthy day, Everyone!👁️🏆

@Emma: I don't have time to get sick, either, much less bed up in a hospital. Staying current every 4-5 months! @Daddy: universities require various vaccinations prior to attending, so I think we're all just accustomed to the idea of inoculations. Same with the military members. My office requires regular vaxxing, thank goodness. I prefer not to go into the office, but at least I feel reasonably safe there.

Bananas search vaccine induce thrombotic thrombocytopenia. It is indeed vaccine induced. And they’ll tell you how

@SG cut and paste Category: COVID Vaccination Patient Type: COVID-19 Vaccinated Prevalence: Extremely rare Principal Guidance: In extremely rare cases, the Johnson & Johnson/Jansen and Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccinations may cause vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), a condition characterized by simultaneous acute thrombosis and thrombocytopenia. The condition is similar to heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. Specific risk factors for VITT have yet to be determined given the extremely low case count, though presentation seems to appear between 5-28 days post vaccination. Patients should be reassured that the benefits of vaccination against COVID-19 far outweigh any potential risk. Diagnostic, therapeutic, and patient communication recommendations are included below I will take "extremely rare". Personal choice

@Super: I did research that. "VITT has been reported almost exclusively after the AstraZeneca–Oxford and Johnson & Johnson adenoviral vaccines, with most after the first vaccination.8, 9 No confirmed case reports have been published after the mRNA vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech". @Super: If you remember, the U.S. gave away all of the J&J shots, and only used Moderna and Phizer. If your friend got clots, it's not because she got the J&J shot, unless she got it in another country.

This is one of those no no topics like politics 😳

I'm not on either side. Everyone should feel comfortable with their decision to get it or not. If you are at high risk, you should probably get it. But you shouldn't be forced or shamed. Influenza kills so many each year and vaccines have been helpful at times (the efficacy is different per vaccine). Is Covid vaccine doing much? IDK. There are side effects and healthy individuals are no longer healthy afterwards. The J&J vaccine did have some clotting problems. My dad got sick and died shortly after his last booster. I think it was Moderna. The hospital didn't know cause of death and offered autopsy. I declined and gave his body to Gift of Life. Anyway, there are risks either way. Make the best choice for yourselves.

@OTB, I know. Should we talk about religion, abortion and gender identity next? 🙄

@Russell: Yup -- the J&J shot was never used in America because Europe saw a handful of women over 50 get the clots. @Super's friend probably got clots because of the usual risk factors, like working on her feet all day and getting varicose veins, smoking while on the Pill, or being obese, etc. etc. etc.

The j and j vaccine was absolutely distributed in the US... I got it
17 Jan 23 by member: ObeseToBeast123
the jj was absolutely used in us. I know several from coast to coast who got that vax. in fact many universities in my state used it in their campus clinics. all vax clinics in my area as well as pharmacies listed what vaxs were available and you could choose. jj was on the list. I have 4 brothers and 3 developed serious heart issues shortly after the first or second shot of both phizer and moderna. they were not obese or otherwise health compromised before the vax. hearing your brothers are in the er, hospitalized and wearing heart monitors for months isn't something a sister wants to hear. be glad you aren't me.

@Otb: you are not a woman over 50. The FDA only approved it in 2022 for people who rejected the Moderna & Pfizer vaccines, or who medically couldn't have those two. https://www.statnews.com/2022/05/05/fda-limits-use-of-johnson-johnsons-covid-19-vaccine/

No religious posturing on my journals, everyone. Vaccinations are for our health, and people who are obese are at risk. @Daddy: if you declined the autopsy on your father, then you don't know if he was already ill with something major. At his age, it was probably a more typical cause, like heart disease.

This is silly I'm out there's a reason. It's a no no topic too much Innacurate information out there and way too polarized view points on it

Remind me again your opinion of statins and any real or perceived health risks.

I’m pretty sure it was jj shot. It was when the vaccine 1st came out. I’ll have to ask her. But I remember her showing me her vaccination card that had Johnson Johnson written on it.“Extremely rare” well most people don’t report it. Unless it’s severe. She didn’t. Also what sweetsnomore said, myocarditis is emerging. There’s no long term study on this thing. I mean what the vaccine does in itself is unnatural on its own. It makes your body produce spiked proteins and it’s never created before and then let’s the immune learn to destroy. There’s so many possibilities to that. What if your immune fail to destroy it? What if your body thinks production these kinds of things is normal and keeps producing it? But that said, I’m not an antivaxxer. I’m an anticintroller. So many people shaming me and others for not getting vaccinated. And the vaccine is turning up to be terrible with time. Like I said it neither stops the transmission or blocks. It’s the same as unvaccinated. Nobody is doing their part more. Vaccinated or unvaccinated. That’s my case

@Bananas, I do know. He recorded everything. I went through his notes. He was healthier than most Americans. He was doing over 10k miles per year on bicycles with many trips over 100 miles. He recorded how badly he felt after his last booster and how he thought he was close to death. Apparently, he was correct. Of course my father is not the only one I've seen have complications after the vaccine. It is more common than you think.

@Honeybuns: Statins are used to treat high cholesterol, which is not contagious. If you get high cholesterol, it's not because your kid coughed in your face. It's because you intentionally won't stay out of drive-thrus.
