I did recently. I wasted 2022 healthwise and was aware that I was gaining again. So I made a point of logging every day for twelve weeks, averaging every four weeks and trying to maintain or lose a little. Now I am using the results as numbers to try to hit or be under.

I saw a conversation on here about this shortly after joining, so I checked periodically after losing. I think I looked every 5 lbs or so but I don’t remember the increment where it made a difference. You can always play around with the calculator to see.

Thanks Tom and APhoebe. Just wondering how much it changes with each pound (or 10) lost. At some point I will need to eat fewer/burn more calories to continue to lose weight. Guess I'll play around with it and see.

never. I believe it lowers slowly with weigh-ins. :) My macros are set, and they don't change.

many find the rdi on here to be really off I would check a few other online calculators as well and not just go with the fat secret one

I never bothered with the gradual recalculating. Just figured on 1000-1200/day and stuck with it, as it will also be my maintenance caloric intake. This is a lifestyle change for me -- not a diet -- so the sooner I could settle in, the faster it would become a habit. IMO it is harder for people to constantly have to create new habits (continually having to cut more calories or take "baby steps") than it is to just simply commit to living healthy like a thin & fit person.

The RDI on here did not work for me so it took some tweaking and working with my trainer on nutrition to figure out my macros, but I know there are a lot of good online calculators that can help too.

I use the Mayo Clinic Calorie Calculator. Mayo Clinic website is my go-to for all health-related questions.

I don't. I know 1500 a day will let me lose weight. Maintenance is 2200 roughly

I agree that the calculator here did not work for me. I found that I had to set it at my ideal weight, like a hundred pounds from now, to get even close to what I should be to lose weight. So I worked with a Dietition for my macros and ignored the calories recommended here. I just use the tracker and read the posts to help my inspiration levels stay up.
