End of June Summary

I can not believe half of the year is over. Not going to try to analyze this month too much. I really just feel like I am starting to "get back to normal" since my brother passed on 4/17 at which time I weighed 260 and I am at 251.2 today, that is -8.8 lbs in 10 weeks. I went from eating too few calories in May and totally stalling to eating too many calories for the first two weeks in June and gaining 3 lbs. Didn't feel totally derailed, but found my eating patterns and level of hunger were all over the place and I wasn't too happy about that.

Mid June I decided to make a bit of a shift to eating in a more heart healthy way which entails more complex carbs and less fat and protein than I was consuming. I have done quite a bit of research about heart disease and talked extensively with my PTP and have also commenced my own healthy heart assessment with my cardiologist. Good thing is my cholesterol and triglycerides are in great shape with daily medication. I am going to stick with this WOE for awhile. It is in line with the DASH diet (50-60% complex carbs, 25% fat and 15% protein). I will stick with 1650 - 1700 cal/day. My level of activity has also increased some, but still not where I want it to be. Currently on a seriously modified plan until I get the all go from the cardiologist next month. Just been doing some bike riding, walking and a few very light weights. No heavy cardio for now.
This month my calories averaged 1678/day and burned 2620/day for an average deficit of -941 which was better than May where my deficit was -1412/day...no wonder I stalled!

Just got myself some highlights and a short and sassy new doo today so I am feeling like a million bucks!!
DH indicated that once his ice cream is gone, he is not going to buy any more....YAHOO!! I must confess that icecream is my ultimate weakness. I LOVE it in the summer time at night after supper. I do love non-fat frozen yogurt for a replacement and skinny cow and I have become great friends but I would really like to cut it back to only a couple of times a week tops. I really need to work on that this month!!

Heading off to the beach tomorrow. The bikes are loaded in our "beach buggy". Planning on leaving around 6am after breakfast, get in a ride for about 2-3 hrs, then park our butts on the beach, read, snooze, soak up some vitamin D and maybe if the water isn't too cold will do some swimming.

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend and a productive July!

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction, especially given the difficult circumstances. So sorry for your loss- I must have missed that time here. Ice cream is really good, but it's even better when you have it as a rare treat not an every day thing. Or at least that's what I have found :). See you next month!

As usual, I'm amazed at your ability to use the data from last month to see exactly where you are and what need changing in your diet and exercise. Have a great time at the beach tomorrow, and show off your sassy new 'do! Have a great weekend, too!

Yeah, the 'do is hidden underneath the helmet! Anyway....I'm always impressed with the analysis you do on your WOE each month. Your commitment to making this journey work for you is really a model for the rest of us, no matter what WOE we're following. Congrat's on your focus, your adjustments, and on your weight loss over these last 10 weeks! Enjoy the beach trek!
