Alright! I went to Costco! It wasn't terrible. I got 3 cases of the almond milk I like. And I got 80 cans of seltzer so I will have things to drink. I think it was a good deal for the seltzer: 2.6 cents per fluid ounce. What have I got? 13 days to January. Looking to end the year at the same or lower weight than I started.

Can I ask you something and I'm just curious be wise you always mention almond milk. Why do you drink it? Are you lactose intolerant? I ask because a,few years ago I told my doctor I drank skim milk every day. He suggested I drink almond milk instead. I did for awhile. I even made
hot chocolate with it and put in smoothies. Then I realized there was no nutritional reason for me to drink it. There's minimal protein while a 12 oz glass of fat free milk has about 12 grams. Again, just wondering because I know lots of people drink it.

Fritzy - I started drinking almond milk to cut calories. The additional benefit is that the type I get has 600 mg of calcium (45% recommended daily value) and 5mcg of Vitamin D (25%) per 8 ounces and only 30 calories. I drink about 16 ounces a day. I know other people who drink it because of lactose intolerance, but no one else seems to think it's important to get the kind with calcium. Basically I get 1200 mg of calcium a day from the amount of coffee. 12 ounces of fatfree milk has more calories and less calcium. Costco has a few different kinds of almond milk, and not all locations have the type I use: Kirkland original unsweetened - no vanilla flavoring.

To add on to Fritzy's comment, I've often wondered the same thing about the choice of almond milk. A 12 oz serving of milk (1.5 cups) has 12 grams of protein. Almond milk has only 1.5 grams. Soy Milk has 12 grams of protein -- the same as cow's milk -- and is lactose free, plant based.

Thanks Abba. I knew you had to have a reason.I remember the low calories. And if you don't open the carton it stays good for weeks. I just drink milk for the protein. My doctor had suggested almond milk because cow's milk has hormones. But he didn't realize I was just trying to get enough protein. Milk is fortified with calcium. 25% of what's needed in 8 ounces. I really haven't paid attention to calcium intake. I think orange juice may be fortified with it as well. Very interesting.Glad I asked..
